So I'm having an issue. One of my buddies runs two full squads of Plague Marines with Typhus. It takes me forever to cut these squads down with my Iron Hands so I am trying to find a way to eat through them relatively fast. My initial thought is to run a squad of 8 sternguard in a stormraven to get them where they need to go and use their AP 3 special ammo. My concern here is obviously gets hot! so ideas about reroll to hits would also be helpful. I realize a farseer and and some snipers would do the trick. Any other ideas? Would that ammo be better than using the poisoned 2+ ammo and forcing a lot of saves? Does this sound like a good option? How do other Marine players deal with these scoring units?

Grav biker command squad, Grav centurions, plasmaguns, Vindicators. Off the top of my head.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Vindicators kill Plague Marines stone dead. Or Grav Centurions since they wound on 3+.

Mass plasma via Sternguard always did work on mine.

Vindicators, Orbital Bombardment also works well. Melta and plasma weaponry. There is also the liberal application of Hammernators method.

Hammernators and Meltas aren't as useful. T5 FNP means only the Vindicator and Lysander nilch their FNP rolls.

True, but then they are only rolling a 5+ and there shouldn't be much coming back at the Hammernators outside of Typhus himself.

2 attacks each, defensive grenades and poisoned 4++ means that they are a surprisingly big melee obstacle.

You forgot the re-rolls to wound against T4 or less. Never forget that.

OK

Yeah, I would say against the same points of hammernators plague marines would probably win that combat.

Would a CM in terminator armor give relentless to a Devastator squad of lascannons?

Just walk around and shoot them from a distance

Scouts wound on a 4+ also. Kinda helps

No, he'd have to have something that confers Relentless to the squad as well.

I have heard plague marines are really sturdy. So, heavy artillery?

Just treat them as 2 times more fearless marines that will alwayz get at least 5+ fnp. They cost appropriately. And can be killed with all the stuff that kills regular marines. You just need 2 times more of that stuff. And try to avoid mellee with all but hardest hitters in your army.

Thank you all for your feedback. I picked up a Vindicator the other day and added in some sterngaurd to help deal with them. Sterngaurd with combi-meltas and meltas should help cut them down as well and deal with their transports.
