The fact that defensive grenades negate bonus attacks on the charge?
That Jump units can flame any level on a building?
Vehicles get 1+ cover when the shooting unit can't see the facing they are in?

Which rules (that everyone forgets) do you love to exploit for those "Well, actually..." moments?

Ramming. Even though it's almost useless, it's fun ramming enemy walkers with my Leman Russ. Oddly, even at maximum speed the demolisher will only inflict a S7 hit (same as auto cannon). As an IG player, I feel a responsibility to demonstrate the iron might of the emperor through the most visceral means available, by crushing filthy xenos and traitors beneath the heavy treads of tanks driven by pious men.

This... especially against skimmers who think they are safe behind their cover saves muahahahahahahaha!

That going to ground in any area terrain gives you a +2 to the cover save. Even with a small mob of boyz, 15 or so, it really takes some fire to shoot them off an objective in some ruins. Even if they use that barrage weapon to do it, they are using a big gun to shoot a squad that costs less than 100 points.

Tank Shock is always fun, especially against low-ld enemies. The Tank-shock+template weapon trick is also a good one, bunch 'em up and blow 'em away.

Ramming with Land Speeders into back armour is also very amusing, especially when it still fails to do damage. Once, I had a LS ram the rear armour of a demolisher, and the resulting attack blew the turret off the Russ and totalled the LS. Dangerous Driving to say the least

How did you ram with a non-tank?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Actually I do tank-shock quite often with my Battlewagons, and every time I do it my opponent has to ask "How does this work?"

I don't think this is true. Looking at the rulebook right now, doesn't mention anything special about area terrain.

Its true. Dont know the page, but its true. Look at going to ground. Also icculus i dont believe that a barrage weapon will ignore your cover if your sitting in area terrain (unless it specifically has the ignores cover rule) because when your in area terrain you have a 5+ cover, no matter which angle you are being shot at.

RB Page 18 Go To Ground says nothing about area terrain. Go To Ground gives you +1 to cover save, that's it. I believe you're wrong on this one friend.

Icculus and ninjafiredragon are correct

Page 91. Under AREA TERRAIN 3rd paragraph. All bold

Area terrain is always difficult terrain. Models in area terrain receive a 5+ cover save, regardless of whether or not they are 25% obscured. Models that Go to Ground in area terrain receive a +2 to their cover save, rather than a +1.

Yup, y'all are correct. Why would they not just put that under the go to ground rule?

To answer the question - Focus Fire.

Great rule, almost nobody I play with uses it.

Collectively, we always forget about Fear on daemons and MCs.

You can throw grenades. (And use them as a weapon in assault against monstrous creatures.) I can't count the number of times I've asked an opponent if they'd like to forgo one of their bolter/splinter pistol/shuriken pistol/what have you shots in order to throw a frag/krak/plasma grenade only for them to get that 'Eureka!' look. Hands down my favorite change to the rules in this edition.

Precision strikes work in close combat, and every character gets them. This allows you to allocate wounds to your choice of engaged models in the enemy unit (even if that model is no-where near your character). If your opponent does not issue a challenge, you can exploit the precision strike rules to place a wound or two on specific models that you want to kill. This can be very useful if you're fighting squads with one particularly dangerous enemy model (e.g., a nob with a power claw).

Interestingly, you ran afoul of another one I see missed a lot. Fearless stops you from going to ground, so units with Mob Rule that are 11+ can't.

I would say Fear, but it seems like I have the only CC capable army that isn't inherently immune to it. I guess it makes beating up on Guardsmen easier.
