This would completely wreck the balance of 40k if it was canon. If the Adeptus Mechanicus can actually make stasis fields, then why cant they make a localized stasis field on Gulliman's neck, and cut out that bit and like replace it with robot bits or something. Gulliman is mainly robot anyway. And then the Ultramarines would have Gulliman back and they could be happy and go on a massive crusade and kill heretics, etc. So, the point is that Gulliman could be saved!

Because the poison will have already spread through the body. He did not instantly drop into stasis the moment the blade touched him to my knowledge.

It's also very likely that the poison came from The Anathame, the same sentient blade the brought Horus low. The poison was at first fairly innocuous, merely slowing Horus's Laraman cells from clotting the wound. As time went on however, the wounds began to bleed faster and then to fester. Horus quickly fell into a coma which he only recovered from with the direct aid of the Chaos powers.

I think the only way Guilliman would recover would be if: A) the Emperor wakes up, heads to Macragge, and uses his knowledge to heal his son (extremely unlikely), or B) The Ultramarines convert to Chaos, and replicate the same ritual that the Serpent Lodge performed with the comatose Horus, and then Guilliman would have to accept the Gods' offer too (about as likely as the Grey Knights throwing Abaddon a happy 10,000th birthday party).

So I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you

Idk

It'd be pretty grim dark if after 10000 of being locked in agonizing pain but not dying, Gulliman finally relents and gives into the whispers of the Chaos gods, they give him the Horus Special Makeover and he turns most if the Ultras and their successors but some stay loyal.

Could see some cool stuff like the Black Legion attack Gulliman because of jealousy. Or Calgary vs his GrandPappy

One of the HH novels mentions an arcane device that can heal people in stasis.

That's probably the only way of getting him out. Every other way is NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

Unless they can get the emperor to use his skills and powers, as a semi corpse sat on the golden throne that's unlikely.

A arcane device, so arcane before ad mech was messed up, so currently near magical tech powered by unicorns for there tech info loss,s.

Sorry, Uber UltraSmurf is gone...him be dead. Without going Chaos or direct Emperor intervention(which would require the Emperor to also be brought back), he won't be back on the battlefield.

Ultramarines are great and all, but leman Russ coming back would be more fun, chalenges to drinking contests, space vikings, much more fun if bit less helpful to impirium as a whole.

Sure, that is right, can't he be like dreadnought-ifyed like the chapter master before Calgar?

I thought it was pretty overt that his wounds are in fact slowly healing over the millenium.

No, it is always stated that people *think* they are, as Guilliman is seen by thousands and thousands of pilgrims every year. It's an event taken on faith, not conclusively proven.

But as time does not pass in a stasis field, this would be an impossible situation.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Also if time was passing, wouldn't he be getting worse?

Logically, a localized stasis field on a body part would completely cut that body part from the rest of the body. So if you made a localized stasis field over an arm, you'd lose circulation. If you made a localized stasis field on your neck, your head would quickly run out of oxygen and die without contact from the rest of your body.

And the technology to make such an effective, localized stasis field is likely not available to even the Mechanicus.

Well in the Pandorax novel they kill a bunch of people in a stasis field with a virus and with warp magic, everything is possible.
