I was under the impression that most of the War in Heaven and the Eldar Myth of the War in Heaven has been blurred together to the point that most Eldar don't even remember that the Necron exist, let alone they had a war with them (though there are exceptions). Now that I think of it, the DE claim to have the purest ties to pre-fall Eldar, shouldn't the DE care more about Necron?

I don't really know, it's not for me. From what I've heard, it got rebooted recently (twice, I think) and the first reboot was pretty well written, so developed a cult following. I've never bothered to learn more than that, because like I said, it's not for me. I was learning my own extremely-goofy fluff: WH40k. Still learning it, for that matter.

Octarius War starter kit.
Enough models to fill a dump truck!
Complete with looted carnifex to canonize a long time fan joke.
Yes Just Yes. Except we Eldar ended that war. Defenders of the Status Quo! ( )
Alright, DE players, please correct me if I'm wrong. In short: The DE Troll everybody and everybody just wants to get a shot back at the Troll.
Craftworlds, on the other hand, seem to be single-minded enough to have a particular faction they hate. Aliatoc (now) hates all Necron. Ulthwe` hates all Chaos. Biel-Tan hates all Orks so much they turned devices meant to Terra (/Eldar?)-Form Planets into the Void Spinner. I think there's even a Craftworld that hates all DE for hanging out in the Webway. I wonder, does that same Craftworld hate Necrons now too, for the same thing?
I never found any sources that corroborates 1d4chan's claim that the Octarius war has been ended by the Eldar.
The Tyranid codex and Iyanden supplement list it as ongoing.

I thought the proof was in the 6th Eldar Codex. pg 23 (the timeline) 999.m41 The Bio-Purge The Biel-Tan and Iyanden Eldar unite in the incineration of dozens of Imperial and Ork-held worlds in and around the Octarius system. ... Hive Fleet Leviathan is denied crucial bio-resources as a result. A short time after, a major part of the Hive fleet is isolated and destroyed by interlacing Eldar attacks. Makes me sad, the Octarius war was one of my favorite parts of the old Tyranid Codex. I suppose if you read into it, they do destroy a major part of Hive Fleet Leviathan, but don't specifically say it's in the Octarius Sector, it says they intersect it so it's probably elsewhere. My guess is the Eldar prevented the war from escalating, so instead it is allowed to burn itself out?

Given that Orks and Tyranids are still pouring into the Empire in untold amounts as per the newer Tyranid codex I'd say the Bio-purge is largely a desperate but ultimately failed act.
Also the Orks jacked an avatar of khaine.
Khaine can't catch a break in the fluff.

That's totally canon, right?
I know Khaine is the bloody handed god, but no one ever stopped to ask just whose blood it was...

Khaine's so tired of getting his ass kicked whenever someone needs to prove that they're a badass that he's joined another faction entirely.

Hmmm.... back-peddle... I like it! The brewing -storm that was the Octarius Sector has been one of my more favorite pieces of fluff.
Also... why not a looted Avatar of Khaine in that box set? It seems to cement the long-time fan-joke that Orks can loot anything, and it fits into the area you want. Plus added bonus for GW: an excuse for Eldar players to have to buy a box set that has nothing else in it for them, except a junky/ Orky Avatar.
In all serious... the hell? Why can't a Shard of Nightbringer get smacked around for a while? At least Nightbringer can call (sorta) in it's big-brother/ multi-shard C'tan-version for revenge. Poor Avatar just has to wait to regenerate on his seat, where he's stuck, until the Eldar feel like killing another Exarch to awaken him.

I like to headcanon that in times of great need, the Eldar can combine multiple avatars into a gargantuan creature version of it and/or sacrifice multiple young kings to empower it further.
And that the bigger and more important a craftworld; the larger and more powerful it's avatar is, and how powerful the Avatar is can also be influenced by how powerful the Young King sacrificed is.
So you can have Avatars who are easily massed cannon fodder (basically made from small shrines you awaken with some blood rather than a death) to Avatars on the scale of the bonus boss of Dawn of War 2 (the one with 300k hit points and being seriously believed to be able to raze Typhon's biosphere) or even bigger.
It comes from my wife's explanation for her varying sized Avatar models with homebrew stats.
The super short 2e Avatar is essentially like a lesser daemon (very bloodletterish) while the FW sculpt can mulch a generic bloodthirster no problems.

It has been said many times that the Eldar are the only ones that take the Necron threat seriously and do everything in their power to stop them should they hear of a Tomb World waking up and have been known to destroy Tomb Worlds should they find one before it has woken up. This has given me the impression that the Eldar still remember who the Necrons are and what they could do if they are let to get to full force.
