First of all let me clarify that I am just starting to get into WFB. So if I have any of my facts wrong I apologize. But I have been looking through the web posts about the new book and I thought of something. Fluff wise the wood elves are described as a capricious and unpredictable group. In this book they have magic arrows which a tailored against the forces of order or the forces of destruction. This got me thinking as books released late in an edition often are somewhat designed with the next edition in mind. Is it possible that Wood elves will become a non-aligned army in 9th edition?

Only if the Forces chart actually means anything in the next edition aside from a few High Elf shenanigans.

Space Wolves: 3770
Orks: 3000
Chaos Daemons: 1750
Warriors of Chaos: 2000

I hadn't heard that. Does it define exactly who is in Order and Destruction?

I remember there being rumors of dividing the factions into Order vs Destruction with allies rules coming back in.

From "40k Warzone":

Moonfire Shot: 30" Range, Str 3, Armour Piercing, Flaming Attacks, Volley Fire. Hits from Moonfire Shot have +1 on rolls to Wound against units with a majority model count from Forces of Order.

Starfire Shafts: 30" Range, Str 3, Armour Piercing, Flaming Attacks, Volley Fire. Hits from Moonfire Shot have +1 on rolls to Wound against units with a majority model count from Forces of Destruction.

Wow. The implication here is even bigger. It's that there could be mixed units of Order/Destruction/Neutral.
Do we know of any way to do this today?

Yeah that majority model count line is very intriguing. When are we expecting people to start getting their hands on the actual book?

SoM. The characters are non-aligned.

Doubles games. TK+WoC, for instance. Characters aren't of the same alignment. If you have 1 warrior left in the unit, and a tk character, neither of those arrows would affect the unit.

Malifaux masters owned: Guild(Sans McCabe), Outcasts(Sans Misaki), Arcanists(Sans Marcus)

is there allowance for plopping a TK character in to a WoC unit?

The arrows would still affect the unit, just wouldn't get the +1.

I do believe that you can, as long as you aren't Desparate Allies.

Just throwing this out there, but with Sorcerous Pacts you become "Trusted Allies" even if normally you would be Desperate Allies...

I personally think that this was not done with any real intention towards the idea of "mixed Order/Destruction units" but rather so that you can have a bit of wiggle room to play with. Like if you know that you're playing against someone who is fielding an Order or Destruction army you can list tailor a bit.

If that was the case, the arrows would just be one arrow that has +1 to anyone. This looks more like you'll have to try and decide who you hate more. Like if you're at a tournament you might decide that while you don't fear the forces of Order, it's important for you that you take down Warriors of Chaos, so you bring Starfire.

Actually, Throgg and friends mean that you'll see a unit with Starfire anyway. Just to play it safe. After all, which forces of Order have regen monsters? And what sort of competitive player takes life for any reason other than Dwellers-spam?

My point exactly. If you knew that you were fighting an Empire guy with this army only though, the choice would be made for you.

I think it would be an interesting shift, to move the WE into the Neutral slot with TK, and OK. And in some indy events DoW.
