Hi,
third week of may features only one GW release:
Apocalypse Warzone: Valedor (26 €)

The Damocles Apocalypse Anthology lists an upcoming Apocalypse novel Valedor (no more details given).

Maybe both refer to this Iron Lords battle:
http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Lords
Defence of Valedor (997.M41) - The Tyranid Hive Fleet Leviathan overruns the Ecclesiarchy world of Valedor in a matter of hours, slaughtering the entire population of pilgrims and Ministorum Adepts, as well as overwhelming a Battle Barge of the Iron Lords Chapter. A small force of Battle-Sisters from the Order of the Sacred Rose represents the only humans to bear witness to the event, having barely fought their way clear of the carnage.

A scenario, where tyranids are able to win? Call me impressed

Bet they'll retcon it. Can't have the Sisters or Tyranids look good at the expense of the Marines after all. It's what they did with the Damnos warzone with the invention of a 2nd Battle of Damnos where the Marines win, effectively undoing the earlier defeat (which itself gets written down to be more of a failure on the part of the IG).

No source given by the Wikia article. Where does this come from ? Does not look like anything GW would write, for reasons already stated .

"Our fantasy settings are grim and dark, but that is not a reflection of who we are or how we feel the real world should be. [...] We will continue to diversify the cast of characters we portray [...] so everyone can find representation and heroes they can relate to. Technically, the sisters didn't win. Though they did get second place (not much of a consolation, but hey, surviving is better than nothing!)

There was also Warzone: Armageddon, but that was released 'inside' of the Apocalypse book itself.

But technically speaking it is another Apoc Warzone.

I don't think you realize how many SM chapters of no consequence have been destroyed for the benefit of xenos.

It was bound to happen that Nids would get a Warzone book of their own, that leaves us with just both Eldar variants left for the Apocalypse treatment.

I already preordered mine!

The WD mentions new characters for the factions involved. I'm eager to see if tyranids get any unique rules.

Wow that Kabalite Stormsurge formation is pretty sweet!

I have enjoyed the previous Warzone books so this one is definitely on my buy list.

So far I've been very happy with all of the Warzone books, so I'm glad they are still making them.

This one looks like it will absolutely rock. Looking forward to having a decent formation for my DE.

That said, the Eldar formation leaves open a big question: Do they include "supplements" under the banner of "codexes"? In other words if my opponent is playing the Imperial Fist supplement then does the special rule work against them?

Well, supplements do explicitly state which codexes they are supplements of, at least. I'd personally say that would mean they get included with their parent codex, but I suppose you can't be sure.

Nah. The whole "lol SoB get slaughtered constantly" thing is really a misconception. On balance, they do allright.

The Lexicanum mentions a Valedor being overrun, and gives the source as the 4E 'Nid codex. Though it doesn'y describe it like the 40K wiki does.

As ever, I'd advise being careful with the 40K wiki. It's not so great at fact-checking, so fanon and fanfiction can seep in.

Hey, new Valedor novel. Presumably the plot synopsis of the novel is for the same plot as what this warzone will be about.

Hmm, I wonder how the DE and CWE alliance will be portrayed.

White dwarf description makes it sound as if they're not good buddies any longer. I'm interested to see if that's the case.

So an e-mail from GW came in just now for the pre-order of Warzone Valedor. It looks like the Dark Eldar formation is exclusive to White Dwarf? I believe that is a first for these Warzones, no?

Ok so this Warzone is a reference to the battle for Duriel (which is the apparent Eldar name for Valedor). The battle is referenced in the Eldar Codex and more details are given in the Iyanden supplement with the date being given as 778999.M41. Leviathan was attacking, and a tendril of Kraken was also there after having been thrown into a Warp storm by Iyanden in the past. The Eldar are desperate to prevent Leviathan and Kraken from uniting and mingling their genetic information to create even more potent Tyranids so Iyanden, Biel-Tan, and the Dark Eldar join forces. The Dark Eldar provide the device called Fireheart, which can trigger the planet's molten core to destroy it, but it requires psychic activation (which the Dark Eldar cannot do) and also that those that activate stay with the device (and perish with the planet).

Essentially in a nutshell the Eldar and Dark Eldar combine forces and beat the Tyranids. The Tyranid attacks are blocked by Yriel leading Iyanden's fleet and Dark Eldar fighter craft long enough for the Fireheart device to be activated by Farseers from Biel-Tan. THe planet dies.

The Fireheart device apparently survives because in the Iyanden supplement timeline, Biel-Tan is described as bringing it to other words to destroy them to starve Leviathan.

Runnin up on ya.

LoL. The Stormsurge bundle is up for "preorder" on the GW website for $0 savings....preorder, for models that already exist.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do
