So with Unbound, everybody scores, yadda-yadda, I realize that acquiring Horomogants and Termagants for my Tyranids will probably have become a waste.
Necron Warriors will still be good I think as a cheap way to get glance on the board.
Are there other Troop choices that will not become obsolete?

Well everybody scores, but troops in Battle Forged armies score even if an enemy is contesting unless they are also troops in an Battle Forged army.
So, no, not a complete waste.

Troops are going to stick around as a) people aren't going to go and replace the core of their army and b) trumping scoring when everything scores is a Big Deal.

Guardsmen. 7th will make elites and fast attack a bit more usable, but the brave infantryman will still be a necessary meat shield.

I'd say its more then a bone, its outright gamechanging.
It means a good solid troop unit cant even be DENIED an objective, let alone taken over.
And as we all know, a blob of 40+ fearless troops is doable, and hard to kill even out in the open with no real armor due to pure numbers.

I'm not sure I have my statlines memorized, but can 1,000,000 Boyz even do anything at all to 1 Monolith?

Cover the table and all the objectives and prevent it from moving save via tank shock, thus making them choose between moving and shooting...otherwise no, ork boyz suck goff ballz.

With a resorb and ghost ark, a 20 man Necron warrior brick is next to unremovable from the table (especially in cover) so not only do they glance things to death, they're never giving up that objective.

I'm sure this is what GW wants. Ork players buying enough Orks to fund them through the next quarter.

Difficult to remove, but no where near as "unremovable" as you may believe .
Point is though that tough or fast troops still have a place in the game, EVEN more for some as then have the option of staying in their transports unless they reallllly need to take it from other models. DE troops rejoice!

They can be on a tomb citadel for a 3++ invulnerable save and a boost to their RPs and there's enough room for more than one warrior brick on there.
Trolololol.

You know what would be awesome?
A Warzone Octarius set, with an accompanying novel.
I love the Orks (one of my biggest armies, though the Nids are my first) and I love the Tyranids and how the two Xenos seem to feed one another with conflict.
The perfect enemies.

I bet Mech Tau will really take off as tau choose to leave their fish behind. But MEQ and things like fearless 20 man CSM blobs will get used with Objective Secured.

With Troops getting Objective Secured, both really fast Troops and really durable Troops will still have a place thanks to their ability to either steal an objective or sit on an objective unable to be contested except by other Troops. Troops units that are just really good units will obviously remain in play as well.
In other words, nothing Tyranids have access to.
