I like that Pride model. Nice and big. Shame they'll be so limited during the Con, as I'd love to get my hands on one. If it's selling for 20 already, the usual 100 dollar sweet spot pledge won't be a bad deal if other models are of a similar size.
Guess I'll just wait for the inevitable KS.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Right, but its the same kind of BS that lots of abstract art is. You paint some random crap, throw a title on it, and people project the meaning into the piece. You could easily say tentacle head is sloth, everyone would nod and say "I get it". You show the same piece to focus group B, say its pride, and you get the same reaction. The teaser for Lust had nothing that implied lust. Just more of the same "weird monster" that the other 2 have.
I LIKE the designs. I'm definitely getting some to use as obyriths in D&D (pre-humanity demons that the tanari kicked out of the abyss). They're fethed up and alien.
I agree. I like the designs, they are definitely creepy, but there is nothing thematically connected to the 7 sins.

from todays newsletter it looks like it's only Pride available and they bumped the price to $25 - it looks like they just got a limited run of 100 cast up - this is no different to the boxed game piece (it is the boxed game piece) so it's not limited in anyway other than they only have few for now.
$25 is expensive for a game piece even at 60mm - 80mm tall and he'll be in the full game box anyway. I wonder what else will be in the box set I assume some/most of the larger Sin minis will be add ons/expansions not sure all 7 plus their minions will be in the box set.
Guillotine Games (Zombicide) and Studio McVey are bringing one of their monstrous Sins from the upcoming board game The Others to Gen Con! Pride is a hulking monstrosity that will eventually be found in the full retail copy of The Others, but is being released as a stand alone limited edition model at Gen Con to show you the quality and detail you'll be able to expect from the plastic, pre-assembled pieces in The Others! There will be a very limited quantity available for purchase, only 25 available each day starting at 11 am, with world famous Mike McVey (character designer and sculptor of The Others) at the booth to sign your box! Make sure you show up early though, at only $25, Pride is going to disappear fast!

I just dont think there's anything that makes them thematically feel like a demon who is iconic of one of the 7 deadly sins.
Yeah, but actually even this “7 deadly sin” stuff is pretty stupid and makes no sense. It is just an cultural artifact from the past, but really, they are just so random…

Studio McVey does have some damage control/spin to do here, so, sure, OK.
But 'plastic' when they mean "PVC" is as annoying as ever.
The emphasis on 'pre-assembled' is probably there to set the expectations for both of the likely interested crowds - boardgamers and wargamers.
It will be interesting to see if McVey can salvage something due to how this one performs.

Well, the partnership with Guillotine Games certainly helps! As what sunk Sedition Wars wasn't just quality (some pieces turned out pretty decent) but unplayable rules and other snafus... the type of things Guillotine Games has deftly avoided, and excelled in the same areas.

Looking at that video of Pride reminds me of how much I hate hate hate the McVey tentacle hand thing. It doesn't make any sense, there is no way that hand could work as there is no bone structure for the tendons to pull against. I know all of the usual "well this is fantasy, these are demons and don't obey physics or physiology" retorts apply here, but it makes it impossible for me to suspend my disbelief.

I like the monsters, but the humans so far haven't done anything for me, 'specially that one girl sculpt. I'm sure they'll get pro painters to make the model look better than it is though.
I'll wait and see for the KS, but so far I haven't seen anything that I gotta have. But if it ends up playing like zombicide-with-demons-instead-of-zombies it might be fun.

Technically not a co-founder, but a partner responsible for the miniatures.
The official reason was him & Aly not renewing their expired work visa for the US, because they wanted to raise their new son at home in England. Don't think anyone can say otherwise, but he might have also wanted more creative control/ownership over the things he created, rather than working within someone else's universe.

To me at least, $25 seems fair for a big ass monster. If those are painted game pieces and not resin masters or something, the detail on these is pretty amazing.

There's all sorts of nastiness on display here. Spoilered for your enjoyment (and because they're big photos)!

These pictures have really piqued my interest in this project, I liked all the individual monsters already (except for the Mantic Werewolf with hinged cricket bat), but now I'm starting to appreciate the humans too. I can see myself spending a lot of money on this KS once it begins.

Agreed. BUT the unboxing video looks like it retains a lot of detail and surface texture. The gray figures in the cases appear to be molded to the base, so I assume those are actual figures, and I think they look pretty good. Better than bones for instance, and I'm very willing to use those for RPG games.

Echoing the above, seeing them in scale is really cool. I'm quite liking how the smaller bad guys look, too, which was where I was on the fence (the heroes' concept art wasn't wowing me)
RiTides wrote: They're almost certainly resin masters...
Surprisingly, you'd be wrong.
All the grey models are the production plastics. I didn't believe it myself until I handled them. I brought home one of the pride models. I'll take some photos and do a rundown later, but the model is truly impressive.

Cincy, note my comment was responding to Bossk_Hogg regarding the amazingly painted models being resins. It was publicized they'd be selling some actual casts of pride, and I'm glad you're happy with it. That model is one of the best, I think.
