So I am loving Eirusk with his control spells. One I dont use that often is Fire for effect, a brutal spell. My friend recommened aretillery but I cant choose which one.
pow 14 boosted is kinda brutal against medium infantry and some single wound heavy. But a boosted pow 16(or 8 because it is likely to deviate with at best rat 3) but all are boosted.
Im leaning towards the field gun for FOE but I cant decide

I haven't ever seen anyone have any luck with the field gun. The mortar is pretty scary when it can actually hit stuff, though, and with boosted damage you're talking average blast damage hits of what - 18.5? That very reliably kills an awful lot of the things that you can't hit directly with a mortar.

The mortar is good in general and you should probably get it. The field gun is a lot harder to justify and has more overlap with other models anyway.

Mortar all the way. It's so much better there really shouldn't even be a question. Big Beefy Blast with all those boosted damage rolls removes dudes.

Boosted RAT 3s still catch DEF 10-12 heavies pretty reliably anyway and with more oomph to boot.

Sure it'll fail you against like.. Warpwolves with concealment or a heavily buffed troll. However half that stuff is going to have stealth or just laugh off a field gun shot anyway.

What is your major opponent... fighting a Cryx army is different then fighting Cygnar. I guess the answer will answer by itself at this point.

Mortar all the way.

Boosted Rat3 still hits jacks and basic infantry. And it can definitely ding things up.

Which of the 2 artillery pieces has one of the longest ranges in this game? Because that's the one you really want for you force.

Field gun is good, it's just that other Khador models do similar things just as good or better, whilst the mortar is pretty unique.

It really depends what you're trying to do. If I'm taking the Field Gun, it isn't necessarily for damage output, its for the critical knockdown effect, the damage is just a bonus. If I'm taking the Mortar, its for crowd control.
