The units seem to be very similar in terms of playstyle and stats, so I think this'll be a very close one. Ideas?

Reason being, I have a unit of Wraithguard with axes and will be playing an opponent who said he's gonna bring some Lychguard. Can the Wraithguard handle themselves or do they need a buffing character?

Wraithblades need buffs, if you can get prescience and or invisibility off on them, they will handle anything in CC

It is a tossup, assuming hyper phase swords and shields.

So 5 Lychguard go, 10 attacks- 5 hit, perhaps 1-2 wounds, maybe 1 wraith guard dies.

4 Wraithguard respond, 2 hit, 2 wound, 1 lychguard dies.

Sword vs. Warscythe Eldar win due to higher init.

did you factor in WBB?

More importantly, do you know if the Lychguard will have an attached Character/IC?
Lychguard are rarely ever run by themselves, as they are too expensive to risk alone. Usually they will be accompanied by at least a Lord carrying a ResOrb to make sure they've got higher survivability (giving their RP roll (not WBB anymore) a significant increase, in that he's now got a 50% chance of getting back up and fully recovering that 45 points you just knocked down).
... but Lords are rarely ever given just a ResOrb. If he does include one, you're also probably going to be facing a Warscythe and Mindshackle Scarabs. THAT will be the real problem. It would probably have 2+ armor as well, but if you've got axes, that's not a concern... though if he splurged and got the 3++ save, this thing will be a pain in the ass.
