So it was true. Stephane Nguyen carved for a client aliens that will be marketed.

Probably not. Given the fuss that Prodos has had to go through.

Considering the creator of the Xenos' died recently some groups might be trying to push in thinking that they can get away with it or simply unaware that copyright lasts beyond death in most western countries

70 years from the death of the author is the amount of time needed for something to enter the public domain in the US (it used to be 50, and it's a real shame that they extended it, since the Great American Mythology is dying without things entering the public domain). Of course, things get even more complicated when corporate bodies are involved.

I'd be all for a collection of models based on the works of Geiger (and not just his alien stuff either), but I'd be weary of things done without proper permission.

+1 on both counts.

The figurines were made well before the death of Giger. It is a sad coincidence I think.

I do not know if they have the license. I just pass you information because I know the sculptor and I know that the figures are very well done because he is a big fan of Giger.

there are Predastores figures, they are not official, but they are awesome.

Really wish they would do a movie that is just predator - no reason for love triangles, car chases, or silly comedy.

Just a black, dark, and feral Avatar vibe.

Well - disregarding any license issues - These are quite faithful to the first two movies - something that Prodos isn't offering :( On the otherhand you get 5 Prodos xenos for almost the same amount of money.

Yeah, but wasn't Prodos also going to be doing plastic versions for the mass produced game as well?

Those might fit your xeno fodder bill a bit easier than the resin ones.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

@Highlord Tamburlaine

Yes, I am curious about the material they are gonna use for those and also the pricing. In any case - they are not going to make these particular designs (Alien & Aliens) so for display and collecting purposes in recreating a scene from the movies these are quite interesting...

These look absolutely fantastic. Might get a few to mix in amongst the ones I will get with the Prodos AvP game.

Yes there will be a release of the Prodos plastics before the end of the year apparently.

Just be happy that Disney did not get the extension they originally asked for of 150 years after death of author or perpetual if the work was done for a company. Disney hates the concept of items moving to public domain

Disney has made good superhero movies. Maybe if he had the alien predator license and we would have great movies.

I appreciate you bringing news of these new miniatures here ivankaiser, but..

.. the concept of 'alien' and 'disney' are diametrically opposed within the sphere of fictional entertainment - they are so different, you have basically suggested the equivalent of Sega and Nintendo teaming up in the early 90's, or God and the devil joining forces.

Although, I agree there was something comedy/comic like about the AvP movies, so maybe there is a chance there..

Like it or not, Disney actually seems to know what it's doing with a lot of its non-childish franchises. The current generation of Super Hero movies are, as the guy said, a pretty good example. They don't appeal to -everyone-, and while I'm not a huge fan I have to admit that they're pretty good considering the subject matter. Way better than most Super Hero movies made.. well, ever.

Further more, you don't see "DISNEY" plastered all over everything, because Disney knows that baking their logo in would drive away a portion of the target audience.

Loathe as I am to say it.. I think Disney would do a decent job with the Aliens franchise. Way better than the garbage we've been getting for -years- now...

Absa-bloody-loutely !

Love the pose of that Alien - ripped straight from the second movie.

Would actually recommend everyone have a look at that website - there is some really stunning work on there, from a number of different miniature ranges.

I think this project was not for commercial purposes. C is just a product for the fans and to pay homage to the franchise. I too want to make a tyranid alien army.

I have a friend who has mounted, the quality is outstanding.
