Is it just me, I might be reading this wrong, but the command trait of target priority is broken. A re-roll to hit of 1on a plasma pistol or the like would cancel out the it gets hot rule does it not?

That's not broken, that's just like any other re-roll to hit. Sound perfectly normal to me.

It gives you very good protection against gets-hot rolls. Need to roll two 1s in a row. Yep. Nothing weird about it though.

So it's pretty much the perfect choice if you're running a lot of plasma weaponry

Yes, yes it is.

It's not a "choice," though. I mean first of all, it's only within 12" of the commander. So you're not gonna get this army wide.
Second, and more importantly, you can't just pick it. What if you load up on plasma (even if it's only in the command unit) and then you don't roll a 5?
You can't really gear toward it as if it was a done deal.

Yeah, there'll probably be a dataslate with a special character that has it as his warlord trait, because that means they can sell loads of that model.
It's still a very specific build for something that while it's good, is hardly overpowered. Reliable Plasma weapons. I see the flavour in that.

I realise that you can't just pick it dude I was just meaning that if you ran plasma and happened to get a lucky roll it would be perfect. I also realise that it's only within 12' which suits me perfectly because I run a sternguard drop pod army and drop them mostly in pairs so my warlord plus 19 stern would wreck anything when opening up with the combi's

But it's one chance in six. Are you going to buy plasma combis on them all and hope for a 16.7% chance of getting the trait you want?
What if you don't get it? Will you then decide not to shoot the plasmas at all?

Oh hell no I'll still be letting those puppies loose anyway. Plus I run crimson fists so I get the re-roll for bolters anyway it would only be for extra security for a better word. Plus all of those traits aren't bad either

... extra security? I don't know what the crimsons fists tactics do, but you know you can never reroll a die twice, right?

If you're calling re-rolling 1's to hit broken...

Go ask a Tau player if you can try out a big target lock farsight bomb with MSSS and CNC node.

That should raise your expectations of how "broken" performs a bit.

Well aware of that. I think I messed up what I meant. I meant that if I somehow scored the trait I would then have the ability to re-roll the combi's when firing and later in the game have the re-roll for the bolters because of the chapter tactics. I hope that makes more sense now.
