Hi everyone so I want to know who do you think is the strongest army (single non allied armies) and why?

Which Warhammer 40K Character are you?
Your Result: Eldar

84%
You are part of a mystical, alien race. You bend the magic of the warp to be used in battle. The eldar are commanded by powerful, mystical leaders called farseers. You favour powerful heroes and stealthy units but if it goes wrong you have your powerful tanks.

There are none. Every army has their good and bad sides. I'd say if I had to it would be Space Marines, they''re very easy to play and will often win some and lose some games. However, Space Marines are difficult to master. But if mastered Space Marines are certainly one of the hardest enemies to fight no matter what army you're playing. So I'd say its possibly fully mastered Space Marines if I had to pick one.

The Guard are the strongest.

They have low points so lots of units.

Easy access to multiple psykers so they can dominate the psychic phase with huge amounts of dice for casting or deny the witch. Access to all the psychic powers.

Huge amounts of guns and lots of variety in their weapons so they can out-shoot anybody.

Cheap units so they can lose one in an assault and simply have the others shoot whatever killed this unit. Whatever killed this unit will then die and will certainly of cost more than the Guard unit it killed.

Very good Flyers and lots of anti-air weapons. This enables them to dominate the pro-Flyer and anti-Flyer aspect of the game.

Command cards which make them even better.

Forge World love them and give them the huge numbers of units and freakishly overpowered rules to go with them.

For these reasons Guard are the best army.

I'd vote Sisters of Battle.

Armour saves of the Space Marines, better fire power, 6+ invulns and a Zombie Commander.

I'd say probably Tyranids. Some of those guys are strong enough to knock Landraiders about with relative ease...what? Oh. Right. Not strong as in HULK SMASH strong, but good army wise? Well given that Deamon factory is kind of the in thing, you only really need to master a few things. 1st: have $800 to put into Pink Horrors. 2nd, have patience to paint them all or commission them out, which also requires money. 3rd, announce that you are summoning.

BAMF! Ridiculously OP army that takes little to no skill to play and win.

Codex per codex, Eldar.
If you throw in player skill, basically any can be the strongest in its meta (ok, LotD, MT, Sisters and Inquisition are off I think)

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

Probably Eldar. They have the shooting power equal to the Tau and are the 2nd or 3rd best in the psychic phase. But Tau is a close second.

The strongest army is the one you lose against.

The strongest enemy are the dice

The strongest being is the dice god

But seriously I would say daemons, or Eldar

Currently? Daemons as a standalone codex. Summon farm as a standalone single codex army.

Summoning is good, versatile, and powerful, and has a hilariously high skill ceiling. A very very good player running a summon farm will summon exactly what he needs, where he needs it. Whichever daemon unit your army deals with the worst? That's the one his army is going to swarm you with. No tailoring necessary, since the army tailors itself to you mid-battle. Also other non-daemonology powers will get mixed in as more models are summoned.

Also outnumbering most other books psychic power dice 6 to 1 or more means they might as well just not cast and save themselves from a chance at perils, because they sure as hell aren't getting any powers through.

This comment is false, most if not all of the Imperial Guard Forgeworld units and Force Organization charts are underpowered when compared to the standard guard codex.

That being said the Imperial Guard are strong army this addition, however I think Demons of Chaos are the strongest. Take 3 Heralds of Tzeetch and give them Demonology, they can spawn up to a thousand points of demons each turn.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

Yeah, Daemons are looking pretty tough.

To spawn demons, Eldar are almost assured to suffer greatly to the Perils of the Warp table.

How the heck can 3 heralds summon a thousand points!? From what I gather it's more along the lines of, for these 3, 300 points or so. You'd need more horrors and the sorts .

In my opinion, there are 3 top-tier armies. This is in no specific order:

1. Space Marines: Easy to play, easy to pick up, and have something that can counteract just about anything in the game.

2. Eldar: One of the most unnecessarily powerful armies. Good psychic powers, good shooting, tough MCs, fast jetbikes, you name it.

3. Tau: The best shooting army out there. They have the most access to Ignores Cover, which means they basically ignore most of your saves. Plus tons of missles and board-length guns.

This! An army which is hard to counter. As an Eldar player, there are some ways to be on par with Daemons.

Yeah. The sky is always falling!

Eldar have many potent abilities that people lack extensive experience against, especially with the changes to psykers. Chaos armies got a boon there, too. I think all the armies (with the possible exceptions of Blood Angels and Sisters) are still viable though, with the proper skill and experience.

Welcome to the Freakshow!
