Hello. I am doing a Space Marine Chapter but I cannot decide on a name.

They are blue-green in colour, (not using a GW colour). I am using the Red Scorpions shoulder pads and symbols as their symbol. Similar to the Imperial fists and Crimson fist sharing their chapter symbol. They will use Iron hands chapter tactics. The feel no pain representing combat drugs (they aren't heavily into bionics) and the it will not die on vehicles showing their lack of spiritual beliefs and willingness to use forbidden, sacred and new technology.

Fluff-wise they have geneseed taken from the Nightlords, they are a loyalist chaper though. They are a young chapter and have been created in one of the later foundings and don't date back to when the Nightlords were still loyal.

They are recruited from young criminals and their criminal ways built upon so they can use them in service of the Emperor. They are generally very unpleasant and violent towards those they meet, even allies. I'm not talking psycho blood-rage violent but more calculated, petty and self-aware violence.

They hate the Imperial cult and those that follow it. If they find any deviance from Imperial law in those who follow the Imperial cult they will kill them as traitors. They exterminate groups like the Redemptionists on sight. Hate the black templars. A lack of spiritual belief means they will use advanced technologies more readily and combat drugs.

Hope that helps to give a basic idea of who they are.

Their chapter master should be named Kain.

Also, Death Scorpions sounds good. Cold Scorpions just, ehhh. Really sounds weird.

Mm, I reckon Nocturne Scorpions (and any other name that links to their traitorous brethren) should be avoided.

Much like the (heavily suggested) Blood Ravens being the fleet bound remnants of the Thousand Sons sent away by Magnus during 'Prospero Burns/Thousand Sons' and other fluff hints. Their name isn't directly linked to Magnus BUT, they do have indirect linkage (Raven, symbol of knowledge/symbol of Corvidae temple etc) as well as the heavy use of psykers and a penchant for relics and knowledge (the space magpies that they are)

I would suggest something along the lines of:

Skorpius nýchta (Night Scorpions)
Nox Scorpius
Ghost Scorpions

I don't know, you probably get the gist of what I'm thinking.. maybe

Thousand Sons: 3850pts / Space Marines Deathwatch 5000pts / Dark Eldar Webway Corsairs 2000pts / Scrapheap Challenged Orks 1500pts / Black Death 1500pts

Saga: (Vikings, Normans, Anglo Danes, Irish, Scots, Late Romans, Huns and Anglo Saxons), Lion Rampant, Ronin: (Bushi x2, Sohei), Frostgrave: (Enchanter, Thaumaturge, Illusionist)

Cold Scorpions: mmm, nope. When scorpions (or any other arthropod) get cold, they get sluggish. Not the most threatening image.

Scorpion Brotherhood: not bad.

Death Scorpions: not bad, but "death" might be the single most overused word in Imperial terminology.

Terror Scorpions: I don't like the way it sounds. It just doesn't have a good rhythm to the name.

Enforcer Scorpions: this just sounds like the scorpions are in a gang. Everyone knows scorpions can't do gang signs! They just have pincers!

Wrath Scorpions: I like this one quite a bit.

Nocturne Scorpions: a very bad idea, as mentioned above. A chapter with traitor geneseed is only going to survive if they have no connection to their predecessors.

Scorpion Watch: nope. Sounds like they're on guard against scorpions.

Scorpion Sons: I like this one a lot. I think it's strictly superior to Scorpion Brotherhood.

So yeah, I think Wrath Scorpions or Scorpion Sons are the best choices.

But he seriously has to name his Chapter Master Kain if it's Brotherhood of the Scorpion. Anything else would be sacrilege.

If you're wanting to play Night Lord loyalists, the Carcharodons Astra already exist and have a pretty cool history.

Eh, Night Lords are like a combination of the Space Sharks and Raven Guard. Neither chapter accurately represents all of their aspects, so it's more of you choosing if you want violent Night Lords or sneaky Night Lords.

These are very good points. I used to like Cold Scorpions until you put it that way. Thank you, this has stopped me from making a horrible mistake. I may of made that connection myself one day once the name was securely in my brain and then forever lamented it. Or worse, someone else would of made that connection to my FACE! Though you pointed out that Enforcer Scorpions sounds like a gang. I can see your point. My Marines will have the mentality of violent, gang-members who are now ultra-violent soldiers. They are recruited from young criminals, serial killers, gang members, thieves, loads of different criminal profiles for different jobs in the Chapter, except the psykers who would of been weeded out when they went to prison.

I am very sorry but Algernon (a hedonist from The Importance of Being Earnest, one of Wilde's plays) already got that title. Not sure why I like the name it just has a ring to it. Though I can have two Chapter masters in an army (putting aside unbound stuff). I could have dual leadership and the second one can be Kain. However what exactly my Chapter masters will be, meaning what wargear they will get, will they be in Terminator armour or with a jump pack etc, has yet to be decided.

This is good, good post. I like it lots, blessings of the God-Emperor be upon you. I'm not sure if I will use any of these names, even though they would make very original Chapter names. Defrosted Scorpions really caught my eye, Marines who get put on ice between missions and then thawed out when needed, that may go in my fluff. But wait! House of the Scorpion could be good for an Imperial Knight House my Marines have, err, enlisted, replaced with stooges . For my Chapter's name I may have to go with either. Scorpion Sons or Brotherhood of the Scorpion.

Thanks everybody.

It's worth noting that they are gonna hate a WHOLE LOTTA people if they hate people who believe in the Imperial Cult, given that it's the ONLY sanctioned religion of the Imperium and pretty much mandatory for everybody but Space Marines and the Mechanicus. How is a Chapter allowed to be founded which pretty much hates everyone they might be expected to work with?

It might be a little more plausible to have them (like a lot of Chapters), not view the Emperor as divine (which means that they believe the Imperial Cult is false dogma), but also be a bunch of hard-cases and committed to the idea of Space Marines as 'Angels of Death' and unsympathetic towards human concerns.

Just hating basically every other Imperial organization makes them either highly likely to get the Celestial Lions treatment (wiped out) or makes them seem like Milton from Office Space (if all they do is talk about how much they hate people without doing anything to actually attract any notice for hating people).
