I'm coming back to 40K, after pretty much sitting out 6E, and all my ol sources of bits have dried up.

Can anyone recomend a good source of 40K bits, that's based in the USA ?

Orks is coming, and I want to have a dealer lined up to raid when the Ork bits arrive

Hoard o bits is a well established US bits dealer. Their selection is pretty large and their prices are fair. I find their ebay feedback policy to be childish and extortive, but as long as you're willing to give them positive feedback no matter what, you should be golden.

Hoard O Bitz and Black Dagger Games on eBay. Both are awesome.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

You can also go to Hoard O Bits direct from their webpage. What's this about their eBay feedback policy?

Apparently, if you give them negative or neutral feedback, they refuse to ever sell to you again. They claim that by giving them that kind of feedback, you're identifying them as the lowest form of scum imaginable, and they can only assume that you'd never want to buy from them again anyway.

Negative feedback, sure, I get that. I could even understand if that was their policy for negative feedback. But for neutral feedback? That's pretty much the same as extorting positive comments from their consumers.

According to Dakka user Melcavuk, their ebay store FAQ says "Leaving us negatives. We view that as having been ranked as the worst possible seller on eBay. As such we expect you would never want to accidentally buy from the worst again. Nor do we want to sell to someone who was so obviously been displeased with us and would likely continue to be displeased. You will be immediately prevented from purchasing our items. This is a permanent effect and will not ever be reversed. This also applies to threatening to leave us negatives." According to Dakka user baritowned, they also applied this policy to him after leaving neutral feedback.

Baritowned started a thread about it.

I've done a good bit of business with both of these services and yes, they're both excellent. I really love the single figures that Black Dagger specializes in - good way to build up 40k/Fantasy skirmish forces w/out having to buy whole boxes of troops.

Hoard o bits has always been good to me. I like their Ebay policy. If someone gives a negative or neutral feedback on ebay, it hurts the company more with their ratings than people realize. If something goes wrong, like shipping a wrong item, for me they have worked to make it right. Some buyers give the negative feedback very quickly over petty stuff. Their policy is strait forward saying, If you don't like us, don't try us again. Saves them the hassle of trying to please the buyer in a system where the buyer has so much more power to abuse than the seller.

I've used bitz barn multiple times for orders ranging from a few heads up to sprues and full on kits NOS. Never had a problem with an order and shipping is pretty fast, though it seems they don't restock things very quickly.

I got most of my chaos and skaven collection that way. Some daemons, some beast men, some warriors, some skaven. I ended up with a very 3rd edition Warhammer Fantasy type skirmish force that way. There's no way I would have gotten any at all if I could only have gotten them in boxes of 10 or 20.

Out of curiosity, if you found out New Kahala was telling people "if you give us anything less than a positive review on Yelp or somesuch, then we'll ban you for life," would you think THAT was okay?

Like I said, it's a reasonable policy for negative feedback. Extending it to neutral feedback is the equivalent of extorting your customers for positive reviews.

Expect there have been several complaints on people placing large orders not getting parts of it contacting the seller and getting banned. I haven't heard such an issue but Hoard o bits is far from right here.

seems perfectly logical actually. if you go out of your way to say they are terrible (neg) or that they are mediocre (neutral) then you should not really expect to go back there. if you think theyre mediocre but not so terrible that you would never go back then you zip your lip and just dont leave any feedback at all. pretty simple life 101, dont be a douche bag.

reminds me of a person i know that's always abusive and condescending to waitresses even at places that she goes to all the time. just pure stupidity really. i always ask her how the spit tasted.

If a food chain(new Kahala) screws up my order and refuses to fix the problem, like I ordered 3 plates of number 3, and got 2 orders of number 6, thats bad service if they are not willing to fix the problem. I wouldn't go order more from that business. Same for horde o bits, if they screwed up an order, refuse to fix it(after bringing it to their attention) Why would I buy from them again? Better yet, Why would they trouble themselves trying to please someone(in a market where the buyer has much more power than the seller) that has already expressed displeasure of dealing with my business. I'm not saying that it is perfect, but if I had a customer that kept coming back ordering and keeps saying i screwed it up again and again, then yeah, Ban them. One less order to worry about of the THOUSANDS of orders they do get right. I have had good transactions with horde o bits, one time they did mess up an order, I emailed back, they fixed the problem and sent the replacement parts free of charge and covered shipping.
Ebay for selling stuff has screwed me over in the past trying to sell a used paintball gun described "not working, used, sold AS IS" the buyer filed a paypal claim stating I sold a broken paintball gun, not as described. Paypal froze my account, took the funds back and the buyer kept my paintball marker. after about two months of emailing both paypal and the buyer to resolve the issue I finally got my marker back, but I still lost the money it took to ship it to, and back from, Canada. Huge hassle for me. So I "get it" that horde o bits is protecting themselves by doing their protective policy.

I've used both of these quite a bit. Never had an issue with either. Decent selection. Buy it Now prices can be silly, though.

Not in my experience. With both orders that I placed there were major issues with shipping and fulfillment (seems they aren't the best at keeping tabs on their inventory levels or where they send their packages to). Perhaps I had two lemon orders and am the unluckiest person in the world, but nothing of Spikey Bits has impressed me other than their (supposed) inventory.
