WIP Vanquisher.
It's a Nova Cannon with a Tiger 1's (Panzer VI) 88mm cannon at a 1/32 scale slotted into it.
It's quite a bit longer than the actual vanquisher gun, but I *really* like it.
Thoughts on the idea? It's already done, I just wanted opinions on complaints - of course, if someone's complaining about MFA, I just measure it from the nova cannon. (of course, that should never happen given the vanquisher's extreme range!)
Update:
Almost done, here's Kingslayer, named, painted and camo netted. Will do a showcase very soon!

Rule of cool trumps all. It's not as if you're modeling a short ranged weapon like a multi melta or demolisher cannon extra long. The gun has ungodly range anyway.

That's what I was thinking, like it'll only matter on basically the hypotenusal angle on a 6' by 4' ( a little bit sooner, but we're talking extreme cross-board action here) and even then it can basically do it with its 78" effective range.

Looks cool. Besides, who will really complain? It's a Vanquisher. I use them myself, and I'm well aware they are not among the top choices for Leman Russ variants.

I might have to argue with you there, Esp. if you give them a co-axial stubber, but that's for another day - I chose it because in my mind, no other tank really has a hope of taking it head-on (in a shooting match) and thus it's the most like a Tiger II to me.
Shame I'm using a Tiger I's cannon, I guess.
It'll be riding alongside two executioners, named Rook and Bishop. This will be "King Slayer" To keep in theme with the chess thing I had going on for the other two.

In IA1:2E the vanquisher with (if memory serves) beast slayer shells & a coaxial heavy stubber makes it one of the most versatile tanks the guard can bring to the field.

Sadly, however, the coaxial option is only for the Armored Battlegroup version of the Vanquisher.

but you forget, in seventh, you can take them because they're still imperial guard and thus, the same faction.

Nice. I built one recently that is still awaiting paint, from an older Russ turret, cut off just behind the muzzle brake, extended with the Vanquisher barrel (with ITS muzzle brake cut off), and finished off with the barrel of a Nova Cannon. Length pretty well matches my Stygies VIII FW Vanquisher turret.
There's a lot of mix and match in that WIP army, a Renegade Guard army that had to salvage a lot of its equipment.
EDIT TO ADD:
Scratch that. It actually only comes to about where the back of the Stygies' muzzle brake. Still, it's very noticeably longer than a standard Russ barrel, and it looks good and salvaged/pieced back together, so I dig my Vanqenstein turret.

I like that mine's an 88mm cannon. The barrell is noticably smaller width-wise than a vanquisher's and that's the way I like it.

Yep, it's very neat. Did you just have a spare cannon laying around, or cannibalize a whole kit for bits, or what?

I had a broken tiger tank model (My dog had mauled the chassis) so I pulled out the main armament and put it to better use.

I strongly suggest drilling out your multimelta barrels (and, presumably, the lascannon). It might seem like a small thing, but right now it really lets down the rest of the tank.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

I'd actually already done it for the other two, just missed this one. I'll do that when I get a chance.
And, you're correct; superdetailing can make or break a model.
