I wouldn't worry Trondheim, it'll get going soon enough I'm sure. Part of why it's so slow in general is of course because every combat event and location is pretty much down to Castiel's decision and he is a busy man much of the time.

Also, I'm a fan of the Mandalorian/RC theme lyrics in your signature.

Well yes, that I am aware of, but some in between banter bewteen the characthers would be good, just for the sake of some RPing.

Why thank you! Always nice to see someone recognize them, Il name my Mandalorian marines after you then

True enough.. some of the banter in the Deathwatch game I ran a few years ago was hilarious. Cas and TGN, you know what I'm on about.

Hopefully there will be plenty of squad banter in this, but if I'm honest I suspect we'll mostly be the glorious dead by the end of this game. It's a suicide mission through and through. Also, I can't speak for everyone else but I personally don't know a lot of the other players here, their writing styles, etc, which does make it difficult to have smooth interactions between characters, to a certain extent. A lot of people take offence at other players 'taking liberties' by writing in small mentions or responses from their characters to make their interactions less rigid, but I'm not doing that here for precisely that reason. It is much easier when you're familiar with the other writers.

Marines named after me eh? I'm honoured! (Upload pictures some time, Mandalorian Marines sound awesome)

Unfortunately we're not in the same fire team, although your enthusiasm is good to see!

I'm going to start putting 'squad 2' at the top of my IC posts, with a bit of luck everyone else will adopt it appropriately, just to give us all that little bit of an easier time remembering who is who and where they are.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly, getting to know each other is almost essential to be abel to RP well, but what a way to start! Taking on a Norn Queen, me I am just glad its not Genestealer cults.
We had the same issue some years back with my current Deathwatch & Dark Heresy group.
When they are done I may do that, would like some fedback on them really.

How close is squad Solem to the Broodmother, exactly?

You have a chamber with 8 gaunt variants in it to cross, plus whatever the brooodmother starts spawning when your entry to the chamber is detected. About 20 metres to get to the Broodmother.

Event is up, enjoy!

Right, things are going down!

Best case scenario, if i get Prescience off on the squad then save final Warp Charge, i can practically take on a Hive Guard by my lonesome due to the Force Staff bringing me to Strength 6 Ap 4, and Force would let me finish him off. But that is hardly a sure thing, so i'd suggest Me and our Best Close Combat Marine come with me left and storm that fether down while the other 3 handle the right? Sounds ok?

Squad Solem;

As I said ingame, I think we'd be best off if Ignis/Mandel flamed their way through the Gaunts with me and Lethos tackling any stragglers that reach you two, with Arthilos close behind we'd escort him to a suitable firing position

Thoughts?

Best not waste the combi-flamer until we're desperate. I'll flame the hormagaunts and bolter brothers should pick off the termagants. Anything that survives our initial attack can be rushed by the assault marines and then we can focus fire on the immobile, defenceless broodmother.

It would, perhaps, be best if Arthilos is allowed to focus on the broodmother while the rest handle the lesser beasts. Their weapons have the rate of fire to make a dent in their numbers which Arthilos' weapon lacks, but the sheer power of the Multimelta can reliably damage the beast whereas the smaller weaponry will have a more difficult time doing so.

I should think of a new signature... In the meantime, have a

Fair point then, best we split up then, one for each guard. Then when that one is slain help the other group

In any case, here's my bio:

Player Name: BlaxicanX
Character Name: Brother Willie
Class: Combat Marine
Chapter: Imperial Fists
WS:5 BS:4 S:4 T:4 W:2 I:4 A:2 Ld:9 Sv:3+
Equipment: Power armor, bolt pistol, combat knife, frag and krak grenades and power axe.
Background:
Spoiler:

Written on request by my boyfriend, Void__Dragon:

As early as his tenure in the Imperial Fists scouting regiment Brother Willie's potential was noticed. He was not of outstanding strength or skill, indeed, he was actually rather slim and dim for an Astartes, but he had one quality in abundance. Without fear, he would throw himself into combat with reckless abandon, and after every grievous wound he would only fight harder. His scout sergeant, a burly Marine by the name of Paris, asked him why he fought in such a berserker fashion. Young Willie would then tell Paris that he felt that by not enduring the intense pain his enemies guns and blades brought to bear on him, he was living up to the ideals of his chapter: By cleansing himself of weakness in the fury of battle via blade to the throat or slug to the groin he would reach greater and greater heights in battle. Paris was shocked at these profound words from such a young warrior poet, and it is said he was so moved he was brought to gentle tears. He swore from this day forth to act as Brother Willie's mentor, tutoring him in the ways of the Imperial Fist.

Brother Willie was transferred to the Assault Marines as soon as possible, and Paris alongside him. Together they were a seemingly unstoppable team, even when cut off and with no other allies they would survive impossible odds, and go on to complete the mission. Until one fateful day. Brother Willie and Paris had killed a Tyrannofex in a battle with the Tyranid menace. In its death throes it ejaculated its terrible payload, blowing a nearby hive tower to rubble. Willie's helmet sensors were temporarily shot, and he could not move. He was pinned underneath some of the exposion's debris, and no matter how he struggle he could not free himself. When his autosenses returned to working order, Willie's heart sank. Paris, alone and unaided, was locked in combat with countless Tyranid Warriors. Once more Brother Willie fought to free himself from the debris, but no matter his willpower, his body was far too feeble. He could only watch as his closest brother struggled to survive. Paris fought valiantly, even after being dealt wounds that would have been mortal to a lesser Astartes, but in the end it was too much. Though he had slain several dozen times his number, he was eventually overwhelmed, disarmed, pinned down, and devoured; all while Brother Willie could only watch in horror, stoically weeping. Resigned, he lay there, knowing his death would be coming for him. Not so. A squad of battle brothers had fought their way to Brother Willie, and held back the Tyranid menace while the biggest, strongest of their number lifted the debris, freeing him. The reunited Imperial Fists fought like gods of war then, and soon the Tyranids were defeated utterly.

Brother Willie was lauded and commemorated for his valor in battle, but he could not accept their praise. Not in his heart. He knew that, had his strength not failed, he could have fought alongside his fallen brother, and crushed the Tyranid horde. He was too weak. He began to recall memories of bathing with his beloved battle brother Paris, and how his eyes would roam his glistening, extraordinarily well-muscled form. He remembered thinking how magnificent he had looked then, how utterly and wonderfully masculine and powerful. He longed to have such a body for himself. Soon, he vowed, he would. Brother Willie began training more intensely than he ever had before, to become a paragon of power like the fallen Paris, and in three short years, he had achieved his goal.

But his work was not yet done. There was still a deep sorrow in his heart that no amount of battles or training could ever diminish. He knew what he must do. He had to don the Pain Glove. He had worn it many times before, of course. He was an Imperial Fist after all. Mere meditation would not do, however. He would don the Pain Glove for an almost unprecedented amount of time: A full fifty minutes. He donned the Glove, and for the first twenty minutes was silent in his meditations. After a half hour, he began to groan in discomfort. After forty minutes, he was screaming, and crying freely. After fifty minutes, the Pain Glove was shut off and removed, but irreparable damage had been done. The nerve endings of his left eye had been damaged, and to this day tears never stop flowing from it. But Brother Willie emerged from his experience a change man. The pain he felt from Paris' death now drove him to heights he had never reached before, making him the Astartes he is today..

Done.

I wish there was a mechanical benefit to taking the chainsword. Re-rolling failed to-wounds or something. As it stands, power weapons are better in pretty much every way. I'd take it, but being the party burden is never fun.

Well for the purposes of this game, Castiel could give it Rending or something.

Anyway, nice character Blaxican (do I detect a number of subtle innuendos?).

Also, I finally posted, covering what Elysius has been doing/thinking this whole time seeing as it has been awhile since I posted.

Interesting, Darkvoid, how you subtly interpret what not only your own character but also others are up to and format it into more story-like posts. That one I have not seen before.

On my site most posts are done like that and I feel like this group is now comfortable enough together not to mind me making mention of their characters now. The next step above this is people actually being happy enough writing conversations/general exchanges/mentions of each others' characters within their own posts without input from the other players. Again, it's something some people take great offence to so I haven't done that here, but it would be nice to see it develop as the game continues.

It depends a lot, I have had my characters been wounded or even slain right out of the blue on others' posts which I object to, but people writing for example that my character says X is entirely okay as long as it is roughly in line with the character's personality and situation.

That won't happen in this game. Any injuries or deaths that the team sustains will be as a result of the dice rolled by me as the GM.

My policy is i don't mind, just don't get my killed. I swear to Empy if mid post someone rights ''But Morr, being the Hero he is, jumps in front of the Bio Plasma Blast to shield X from harm'' is were i draw the line, anything under that is fine

Have we decided on a cause of action, can i PM the GM what i will do?

I plan to Cast Prescience, Activate Force Weapon and charge into the Guard on the left.

This ok with everyone?

If I'm honest due to the fact that this game doesn't have any PvP element to it we might as well cut out the PMing, simply outline our actions here/IC and Castiel can either straight up qrite the results up in an event or post the sequence of events here for all to see so we can post not only of our own characters but of what is going on around them too. You remember the Gladiator Pit, Cas? It worked very well there and that had essentially the same mechanics.
