Been wanting to give this a go for ages and finally did it.
Its Teddy bear fur that has been clippered and attacked by a pair of scissors and then dry brushed dark to light green.
The fur starts off a light cream colour which is ideal as grass towards the ground is always more yellow. I just dry brushed
the top 3rd. In the picture the grass is next to scratch built bocage hedge in progress.
The fur can be pva glued in place if you want it to stand bolt upright.
You can buy the fur off ebay in big bags or do it on the cheap and go to local village fete and win all the bears. Then just skin them

You seem pleased with the results, but it looks like it doesn't work to me. The images obviously aren't as convincing as the reality.

Complete opposite ,I,m going to cover a battle board in it.
It was only a test run on that small bit but I like the fur. I have seen a full size board at Newbury Wargames show and it was the most eye catching terrain on show. I just need to perfect it

I believe you, but the pictures look gak.
It looks like crude spray work over a blanket, and I don't mean regards to the materials but with the effect. Done well flocked looks like 'grass' even though you can see its 'coloured grains'. This looks like 'sprayed fur' even though you can see its 'sprayed fur'. It doesn't look like grass at all.
However it works for you, so it must look better when seen at the tableside.
When you do prefect it let us know, with a tutorial showing us how. I don't doubt you are onto something, i wasnt there at Newbury, you were.

I dunno Orlanth, that's a bit strong. I think it looks quite good, more than good enough for me anyway!

Thanks chaos0xomega the first link showed very nice terrain, it looked considerably different from the pictures in the OP.
It is certainly an effect worth learning to reproduce. I am still up for a tutorial once the OP works out how.

I think the problem with the OPs results is the color. By the time grass has gotten to that length it would no longer be that shade of green.

Do you have a link to where you bought the fur from? I looked at the (awesome) tutorials in chaos0's link, but that store was closed.
