I really would rather spend that money on minis, and actually, probably will, but is there any hope that 6th will get a web update and we can go on using the two year old book with some errata printed out and stuffed in to place?

I don't think so. I'd be shocked if they did so. Best bet is waiting for a standalone Hardcover like the mini one they did for 6th.

The one they add to DV might work but there were rumors of it being an incomplete rule set.

I dont think GW has ever really supported prior editions, aside from older edition armies getting an FAQ

GW barely does FAQs for the current edition. FAQs for a previous edition are unheard of.

Quit yer cryin' and go drop the $85 you cheapskate.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

To be fair, though, that pretty much is what GW is saying...

"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see.
One chants out between two worlds: Fire, walk with me."
- Twin Peaks
"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

Or pick up Dark Vengance when that re-launches with the new mini rules (assuming it has the full new rules in)

That does seem to fit with our perceived Walking Wallet designation . Though I would think that such an attitude would be pushing more and more players to take on a piratical outlook.

Dude, your 6th edition has aged to obscurity! It is barely worth having around. Out-of-date crap!

I'd estimate the current value of the 6th edition basic rulebook as $5-$25. And that's assuming anyone actually wants it.

They have never done it before so unless they can see a way to make money on it I doubt they will start. Would be kind of counter productive.

Meanwhile, the value of Chaos 3.5 continues to skyrocket.

This isn't just a mildly updated edition, it's an entirely new edition. New psychic phase, vehicle changes, Maelstrom of War missions, and a bunch of minor changes all through the rulebook. Since it's a new edition, they're not going to release a document telling you how to edit your existing rulebook to fit it. Might as well not, for all the use it'd be... you would be flipping back and forth, and it'd be a pretty solid number of pages just with the psychic phase (and powers), new missions, tactical objectives, how to build an army, superheavy rules, and building rules. It would be such a mess that you might as well buy a new book just to avoid having to figure out where a particular rule is.

Yeah new edition means new codex... they won't care about the FAQ until they launch the 7th edition ones.

Anything that was FAQed before may or may not still be applicable or necessary in the new edition. Clearly they don't have anyone caring enough to check.
