Subject: Which sisters models to buy?

I have always wanted a sisters of battle army. I just want a small 1000 point army thatI can play on its own and ally with my Grey Knights. But I have never even played the army before and not sure what to buy. I want a fluffy but good list. All I know so far is I want to play the Avenger Strike Fighter and 1 Exorcist. But that comes to a whopping 275 points. What should I use for my other 725 points? Which HQ is the best? I want a good list that won't get tabled, but a fluffy list. Let me know what you think!.
Thanks in Advance for your help.

First I think this should be in Tactics.
Second, you will need an HQ and Troop choice (at a minimum). So you'll need some girls for the Battle Sister Squad(s), and either a Priest or Canoness. Automatically Appended Next Post: Third, a mod has been alerted to the misplacement.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I would get 20 Seraphim (Which look sick, and are now one of the most dangerous units in the codex)
I would get 2 Avenger Strike Fighters (If you don't well to shell out the $150 they'll cost, buy some WW2 model aircraft and bend the wings)
I would get 12 basic bitches (2 units of 6 battle sisters) each with an immolator (Variety of WW2 tanks you could use)
And a canoness with all the bells and whistles.

Unless you're and ultra hardcore fluff only player, don't get a cannoness as your HQ, she's terrible.
Use either of our only other 2 HQs Jacobus or Celestine. Both have their own unique tactics and playstyle but it's very hard to go wrong with them

The sisters tactica thread is pretty extensive, what it boils down to is this: -A 20 sister blob with a priest is a decent tar pit. -5 Sister squads with Flamer and heavy flamers and a priest in a Multimelta Immolator are decent if you want to do MSU. -The elite section should be ignored. -Dominion Squads full of Melta in MultiMelta immolators are super awesome as their act of faith gives them ignore cover, so you can have as many as five ignores cover melta shots per squad blowing up back field vehicles immediately (assuming you get a combimelta on the Superior). -Seraphim are also good, a squad of these as an honour guard for Celestine is usually a good choice (which means 2 dom squads, one seraphim) two sets of double hand flamers are the way to go with the Seraphim. They can eat a unit of infantry per turn left unmolested. Adding Celestine lets you hit and run on her initiative rather than the lower seraphim's. -If you can afford to, fill up your heavy support slot. Exorcists and Avengers are the way to go. Try for at least two Exorcists if you can.

I decided 1250 would be the way to go. What do you guys think about this?
HQ: Celestine
Troops: 2x Battle Sister w/ Flamer + Heavy Flamer and Melta Bombs in a MM Immolater.
Fast: 2x Dominion sqaud with 5x Melta (1 Combi) in MM immolater.
9x Serphim
2x Avenger Strike Fighter with Hellfury Missiles
Comes to 1250 Exactly.

Agreed, I can vouch for Seraphim with handflamers. They are absolutely devastating to Xenos and even MEQ when combined with Shred. The number of wounds they pile on is just absurd if you manage to get a good concentration.

I would say MSU mech sisters would be the way to go in 7th ed.
I like to use something like this at 1000 points:
Jacobus
Sisters x5 - 2 flamers - Immolator with MM
Sisters x5 - 2 flamers - Immolator with MM
Sisters x5 - 2 flamers - Immolator with MM
Sisters x5 - 2 flamers - Immolator with MM
Sisters x5 - 2 flamers - Immolator with MM
Exorcist
Exorcist
Of course it is spammy, but what do you expect from a codex with only 1 troop choice.
The biggest issue I've had with this list is wraithknights, damn things just take so much punishment when you only have str 8 weapons.

I've been playing Sisters since 4th edition and I wouldn't recommend buying them even a little. 130 dollars for a ten strong squad? Thanks GW. No, just wait until we get plastics. Our Codex is below average at best (which was honestly the best we could hope for honestly, with what we have available.)
Please don't do it. There's more efficient uses of money. You could throw it into a volcano, that would at least be a dope sotry to tell.

Have you guys played with flamers in 7th? They barely seemed worthwhile in my local meta before, now they seem a waste of melta gun slot.
Also, I'd say when putting together your immolators, don't glue in the turret. The kit makes both immolators and rhinos. You never know when you need to shave 25 points somewhere or have two fire points for one of those units with 2 special weapons or just need more than 6 girls in a squad.

How have flamers got worse? If anything they have got slightly better, as now you can hit models inside open topped transports. Sisters already have quite a lot of anti tank capabilities, do they need more to deal with the slight change to the damage table.
It all depends on the rest of your army. If you are running immo spam, then having flamers in the squads is worthwhile as you need some anti horde.

They got worse because their wounds can't spill over to out of range targets anymore, and if you run F/HF you have to first remove one' skills before placing the second template.

I believe you resolve each type of weapon at the same time, flamers and heavy flamers would both count as a flamer type. please correct me if I am wrong.

Okay, I picked up the bolter girls not too long ago but they've been one of my favorite armies to play over the last two years or so. I (like yourself) just wanted a small force, thinking it would be fun to run Celestine as an ally to my GK or BA. Now I've got six exorcists, 7 Immos, 3x penitents, like 80 bolter girls, 30 ish seraphim, 20 or Repentia, preists, canonneeses (sp?) and even Ephrail Stern. Perhaps I went overboard. However, in your shoes I would get:
20x Bolter girls
4x melta/flamer
priest(s)
Jacobus
Celestine
Immos x 2
Exorcist x 1
Then maybe some Seraphim/heavy weapons to flavor. This will allow you to try running the priest blob, Celestine solo, the doom organ, and also you can give the MSU of scouting sisters a go as well.
And although they are stupid expensive from GW, you can get them reasonably priced here, on eBay or Bartertown. I know Pretre is selling a bunch over on Bartertown. They're one of the most (if not the most) expensive armies, but in the grand scheme, this hobby isn't that pricey.

Issue with starting a Sisters of Battle force right now is that they are no longer restocking the metal figures for them at the moment, however there are rumours they are going to get plastic figures and a hard copy codex....
Though the SoB player I know says they are getting the boot...

If you are still set on this list, one modification I would suggest is to bump your seraphims to 10. 6 wth pistols and 4 with and flamers. Give you an option to have 2 units of 5 or one unit of 8. A little more flexibility.

I still believe the only correct answer to the question 'which sisters models to buy?' is 'the ones you can get cheapest on ebay'.
Except repentia. And penitents. For the rest most models can be used in several different units anyway.
