I am asking because I want to paint them to sell and your input is priceless I have chosen the following models just based on what I would enjoy painting but they are just examples. For SoB I chose either the Canoness or the Mistress of Repentance, for IG I chose the Commissar with PF or the Wyrdvane Psykers and for Orks I chose Boss Snikrot or Kaptain Badrukk.

What is it for your army(s)?

Ork Nob box is one of the coolest kits for 25 bucks or under. So many bits and cool parts. Not the most competitive unit though.

Haha I need stuff that will sell! I also prefer small/single units because I can pay more attention to details.

So the first two (Canoness or the Mistress of Repentance) are from a codex that is electronic only and few gamers have even seen on the table top?

Astorath the Grim is a really cool model. Ghazkull Thraka, while ,ore expensive is always a cool model to paint, Imhotekh the Stormlord is a model that can be very detailed if you put work into it. Lemartes is another cool model. Pretty much any of the BA finecast are good, but watch out for Dante as getting a decent cast of him is nearly impossible.

Are you looking into conversion work? Or just stock models? And one-offs, or by lots?

You could take a Vanguard Vet box, and mix it together with 5 bikers, and get a bunch of SM bike captains with TH/SSs. Now it’s not very cost effective to do one model like that, but if you do a bunch then the cost for the VV box gets spread over all the bikes.

While it's $5 over, Warp Talons look absolutely magnificent if you're a good painter, and you can do some pretty incredible things with them if you're good at sculpting greenstuff.Plus it'd be easy to theme each of the five units for the five factions of Chaos.

In terms of the best quality (model-wise) to cost ratio, it's hard to beat DV Chosen. They may not be that good in game, but the models are a painter's paradise, so many details and different surfaces. They're also dirt cheap on Ebay.

Other than that, the SM TH/SS biker Captain/Chapter Master is a good one, as a lot of people want them and they're a pain to convert. IG players want Priests by the dozen now, and Commissars are pretty cool and in demand too. Models around which armies depend, such as Belial, Sammael, Khan, Farsight or Chaos Lords might be good choices too (and the last one can also be cheap if you convert the DV Lord or Chosen).

If you read closely you will see that I said they are examples

Astorath does look like a great option and I'm sure he is popular and thanks for the tip on Corbulo lol

The models that armies depend upon are what I should be painting ideally

If you read closely, you'll see I don't care. The Commisar with PF is also a bad choice as no one puts a PF on an IF model...

The Terminator Chaplain is my favorite GW mini.

However, with the popularity of psychers and such, the IG Astropath and/or Wyrdvanes is a good idea. As would be any of the Grey Knight characters and inquisitors. See also Chaos Daemon Heralds that can cast psychic powers.

Best of luck!

AOBR warboss. Awesome model and can be purchased for less than $5 on ebay.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I hardly see them for decent prices anymore, everyone in the US likes to charge dumb amounts for them

With 7th, I'd say you can't go wrong with the Space Marine Librarian models. A lot of people are going to be relying on them now, but don't own one. They're also deceptively tricky blighters to paint.

To Paint and sell...

Not sure on price because im at work, but I think there is a pretty big market (here anyways) for things like jetbike warlocks and so on. However not sure how much they would cost (here they are 20 NZ a model) but im sure those will sell well depending on the price and conversion. Eldar Players seem to like their "jetseer" councils.

They get eaten up on Trademe whenever I spot them. May be a way to make some money there.

I don't agree with this, from my experience dabbling in psykers is terrible in this edition. You either get 10+ WC worth or don't bother because your opponent can completely neuter your 1 librarian by virtue of playing armies like daemons, Eldar, grey knights, inquisition, etc.

There are SO many better options than the default librarian and if you're looking for a model that will sell look to the immediate future. Orkz and BA are on the horizon, painting up character models for them could be good. I suspect Orkz will be after Wierdboys and BA priests, mephiston, brother corbulo. (You can make amazing conversions with the sanguinary guard models that could be any HQ with a jump pack.)

Everyone is talking about BA. It sounds worth it to pick up a couple HQ and maybe a Rhino to paint in BA scheme

I don't want to open a new thread for this but is there any reason why someone would not want to buy a metal model over a plastic model?

Weight, difficulty of cleaning up/converting, painting preferences, in some cases an outdated model. That's what I can come up with, anyway.
