Anyone else read this, well, masterpiece? I haven't read a fantasy book since I finished George Martin's Dance With Dragons (I just lost any desire to touch the Fantasy genre thanks to this... experience) but thanks to a dear friend of mine, he convinced me to give Mistborn a try and boy, am I glad I did.

From the "post-apocalyptic" setting, the very original "magic" system, the unique characters and plot, together with of a load of twists, it was a fantastic reading.

Brian Sanderson is an excellent writer and Mistborn was one of the better trilogies I've read in a while. The solo book in the same universe is quite good as well.

Agreed. I've read nearly all of Sandersons novels, and they are for the most part really enjoyable.

I'm very happy to know this, I''ve already read a synopsis about the book and the idea of

Spoiler:
reading anything that happened to that world 300 years after it was saved
really excites me.

I liked the Mistborn trilogy, and was very happy it turned me on to Sanderson, whose Stormlight Chronicles series is at the very top of my 'awesome reading' list.

The Mistborn setting was cool, but the new setting he is working with for the SLC is completely awesome. Never before was I so bummed to be through a pair of 1000 page books, where a select few wear what amounts to midieval power armor, and use swords that are as powerful as lightsabers that appear out of nowhere on command. Also, he topped Allomancy and Feruchemy with gravity manipulation

The standalone Mistborn boom is next on my reading list.

I'm kinda mixed on the standalone Mistborn novel. On the one hand, it would be kinda nice to see what the world would have become after the events of The Hero of Ages, but on the other I wouldn't like to spoil my own idea of what might've happened. The entire trilogy gave us a wealth of information about a lot of things, and The Hero of Ages (spoilered because of wording)
Spoiler:
left us with a blank slate on which to place it all whilst tying up the story itself.

I do have a couple of complaints about the trilogy, mainly one or two annoying characters
Spoiler:
my God, Elend just constantly rubbed me the wrong way throughout the entire thing
and a few odd things I can't quite recall, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

According to the Wiki, the Wax and Wayne books are a trilogy, with the second due out later this year, and there's apparently a video game in development due for a 2015 release that takes place in the ealry stages of The Final Empire (the Empire itself, not the book, so a couple of hundred years prior to the first trilogy).

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

On the brightside, the "Standalone" has turned into a trilogy

Steelheart Was also VERY good. I'm looking forward to the next two books in that series..

I have not "read" them, but I have listened to the first one and I am on my way through the second one. I have a long drive back and forth to work, so I signed up to audible and just randomly decided to give these a try. They were hard to start as an audio book but I really got in to it after a while.

I am pretty excited about the whole series as well as the Stormlight books. I read some information that he is doing multiple different series of books in one universe that are all going to tie together. Mistborn and Stormlight being the first ones. I think it was something like, 36 books in total he had planned out for the whole thing.

Now, if only Patrick Rothfuss would finish the Kingkiller Chronicles......

Well, there have already been several references to Elantris and the Mistborn world in the Stormlight Archive. From what I understand the Stormlight Archive is going to be Sandersons Magnus opus, around 10 books.

I would also like Rothfuss to finish his series. As much as I don't like Kvothe, I'd like to finish the series.

Scott Lynch is also back in the saddle as well, which is nice.

I really, really enjoyed the Stormlight books so far. It is hard for me to read the random shorts between characters I enjoy but it's a super good series.

Didn't know the stand-alone was going to a trilogy. That makes me happy.

And yes, Steelheart was pretty dang awesome. An excellent take on a world with Super Powered people.

Mistborn was an awesome trilogy, and the Stormlight archive is shaping up to be very good as well. Possibly my favorite series so far from Sanderson.

I quite liked them. However I do feel as though everything builds up to a massive climax and then it is all over 20 pages later. This doesn't detract from the stories, I just find that everything happens at once.

Stormlight Archive is awesome, still need to read the second book.

The second book was better than the first and that takes some work. Really, really like the main cast of characters.

I actually found the first book to be the strongest of the three, although it probably doesn't help that
Spoiler:
one of my favourite characters died and my least favourite character became a main one for the rest of the trilogy. ¬.¬

Oh dear, I'm so happy to discover about this new Saga. I see I have plenty to read

I really enjoy the world he is building and Kvothe does not bother me that much. I think I will enjoy older Kvothe much more than younger Kvothe. I believe he said he has plans to continue to a second trilogy after this one, but it will involve his story after he gets done telling the one of his youth. I could possibly be wrong though.
