With all of the changes to the FOC in 7th ed, is it possible to add an IK detachment to a CSM army and it still be "battle forged"? If so, what are the restrictions, if any?

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

It's just another detachment, might need to keep an eye it is all.

It'll have a "Come the Apocalypse" level of alliance, but other than that there's no problem.

Battleforged simply means you are following detachment rules and restrictions for every unit in your army. Nothing more.

Sweet! I'm surprised there isn't more of an uproar about this option being available now. When IK first came out and us CSM players were denied usage of them, the interwebs exploded with nerd rage.

The not-within-12"-at-deployment is big though - means your knight cannot hold a centre particularly well, and in certain missions is much harder to depoloy (short but deep diagonal deployment, and to some extent end on., if you want the knight on the line)

It is good for a narrative army as well, you can deck it out as a 'chaos Knight' and still have a legal list.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Deck it out as a Chaos Knight and the Come the Apocalypse restrictions make sense.

Imagine you're a Chaos Cultist or even a Chaos Terminator. Are you going to stand near the feet of a three story tall, rampaging monster? I'm imaging that a Chaos Knight Titan would be about as civilized as a Helbrute and probably wouldn't mind where his feet landed.

The only "disadvantage" I see is that the Knight has to stay 12" from the rest of my army. I'll be using the Knight Errant version, just run it up into the enemy lines, wrecking face until it explodes and takes out half of my opponents line.

It's deploy 12" away and stay 6" away.

You can't split your shots.

You can fire your weapons at different targets, but you can't split the shots from a single weapon at different targets.
Both blasts must be at the same target.

It doesn't even have to stay 6 inches away.

But if you are within 6 inches the One eye open rule is invoked and you have to make a roll.

I have no doubt there will be a Chaos Knight data slate within a year or so. It's to good to pass up the chance to sell someone a Imperial KNight, a dataslate, and the upgrade blister.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.
