Like it is done in the Swap Shop, or at least very similar (which is a fantastic improvement by the way! Great stuff)

Example 1
[1000 Pts.] C:SM - Mech-Assault
[2000 Pts.] DA - Deathwing Assault
[5000 Pts.] GK - Termie Party

Example 2
[1500 Pts.] Space Marine - Drop Podders + Allies

Example 3
[750] Tyranids - Genestealer Spam
[1250] Astra Militarium - Taurox Roxs!

Basically a General format of possibly the following:
[Points] Abbreviated Tag/Full Army title as per GW - Army Subtitle/Name?

The abbreviated tags may be too much (first example). I think the third option is the most "streamlined" Basically the first two parts of the Subject heading would be "standardized" and allow for easy searching of army lists by just points and army "race." the third part of the list would allow the poster to maybe specify the army list a bit "Apocalypse list" "Kill Team" "Daemon Spam"....etc

Maverick's onto something there, I think this would be a good idea!

It's one of those things that is just horrible for MODs to police. It would be a great suggestion in a sticky, but enforcement of it would be more work that it's worth.

Yeah this would be great if followed. But as the Swap Shop has clearly shown people refuse to follow very basic rules.

But doesn't the Swap Shop have basic auto fill options? I know some people can circumvent it, but if you offer some basic questions that fill it in, I think it is feasible.

Honestly, since Lego's implemented the "Form Fill" Titles for the Swap Shop, I'd say really only a handful of folk have gone around the thread-titling rules.

The biggest offenders these days tend to be the multi-threaders, with even over-active thread-bumpers being relatively low-occurrence as compared to the "Dark Ages".

TL;DR: Lego's awesome and makes the site clean and slick.

I must say, the swap shop form is one of the biggest improvements and makes the sub-forum so much more efficient. I love it, hoping to have the army-list forum follow suit!

If we can agree on an automatic format for it, then I cant see it being a problem.

Perhaps:
point value
army name
list name (optional)
unbound (checkbox)

It would have to work with every possible mix of allies and unbound which makes it a little unwieldy for anything other than the points value, but would be an improvement and the swap shop changes have worked well.

I think that would be fantastic. I do agree with the allies making it a bit difficult. I think the "List Name" section would allow someone to mention if it included allies or such.

[Points] Abbreviated Tag/Full Army title as per GW - Army Subtitle/Name

Example:
[1000] Chaos Space Marines - Khorne + Daemon Allies

Do people really scan lists for specific allied combinations?

Army name should give enough info for that.

I think you'd just really need points value and army name.

(Also could Warmachine army lists get this? Would be nice.
We could figure out what information people need)

For Warmachine/Hordes you could do

Points
Army Name
Notes

Army name could be faction or warcaster.

Notes could include tiers, character restriction, format, etc.

Possible?

For multi list posts people can just cram that info into the
army name or notes field.

Good ideas, I just figured a small "personal" spot at the end could get any misc add on info the person wanted. I guess this is similar to what you refer to as "Notes." Either would do fine. I think it would just make searching and reading quite a bit easier.

I've made the change in the development version of Dakka, so this will go live the next time there is an update.
