Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Shamelessly I pay attention to this topic a bit too much :(

Which imo is somewhat ironic given how much ink was spent on the backstory. One of the factions in Sins even has an "impending doom" angle to its backstory (they're apparently being chased by something, but the nature of their pursuer is unknown because anything and everything - including their original homeworlds - that has come in contact with their pursuer has been lost). But as the game is multi-player only, it has no effect on anything in the game.

Elemental did the same thing.

well i pretty much cleared out my wishlist for games i had some interest in but never got around to getting:

Xcom
Payday 2
Gmod
Goat Simulator

I also picked up Mirrors Edge because it was cheap as hell and it looked pretty nice from some playthrough i watched.
The Witcher 2 because it looked cool and i remember Vader did a song for the first game.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Got all the things I'd want on that list already.

And to those asking:

Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion - Yes get it. It's like a real time 4X with a good emphasis on fleet combat. Lots of fun if you like long play sessions and cool space combat.

X-Com - Very, very worth it. The "complete pack" that comes with the two DLC's and Enemy Within is 67% off and worth every penny. Don't bother with the deal that comes with The Bureau because that game is pants.

Mirrors Edge is good, imo. Of course, since I played it on the 360, it might not be as good on the PC. The focus is primarily on the parkour action, though there's plenty of need to avoid (or otherwise deal with) armed hostiles over the course of the game.

There was also a DLC released on the console that was exclusively free-running, but I don't see it on Steam. I'd easily recognize it based on screenshots because the structures you were running on were rather bizarre.

I take pride that I won't be buying anything during these sales... then remember that I will most likely plunking down even more money on Star Trek/X-wing expansion packs.

I'm not all that enamoured of the Firaxis XCOM, its a decent game but it has lost too much of the original and I find that I tend to get quite bored with it. Xenonauts is a better XCOM game, but that's just been released so its not on sale.

The Bureau isn't actually all that bad for a cover shooter, its XCOM in name only though, the only similarities are a couple of enemies.

Yes that game is sex esp. 'enemy within'. EXALT are a very fun enemy. They're basically the illuminati. Too bad we didn't get to fight them more. They die like punks though. The aliens are a tougher enemy.

As for xenonauts so far I'm not enjoying it as much as I did 'xcom: enemy unknown'. It feels so dated. The cover system seems kind of bad, your guys' arc of sight is crap and just certain stupid things. I dunno we'll see if I can figure out some of this. It might just be because I'm new to the game and should read the manual more for this one. The aerial combat is more complicated though in a way you might see in older games. I'm not sure how I feel about time units. So far I think people love 'xenonauts' because it reminds them of the old 'xcom' they played. I only played the current 'xcom: enemy unknown' and 'enemy within' so I'm just not feeling it. The music in both is nice but I love how the guy that did the music for 'deus ex: human revolution' did the music for 'xcom: enemy unknown' and I enjoy the 80's-90's action movie feel of some of the battle music in 'enemy unknown'.

I guess I can't really judge since I only just started 'xenonauts'. Besides it's not like 'enemy unknown' wasn't bugged up the *** for the longest time. It still probably is in 'enemy within' but I haven't been playing it. Personally when I was playing 'xenonauts' I couldn't help but feel "Why am I not just playing 'xcom: enemy within'?". I dunno maybe that feeling will pass.

The original X-COM is currently on sale for £1.49, all the original games are worth playing aside from Enforcer and possibly Interceptor (its a flight sim).

Space Combat Sim, actually.

I picked up Stick of Truth last night. It only had a 33% markdown, but it was a "voted on" special, which suggests to me that it isn't going to get any better than that. And the game was only released in April, so I'm actually a bit surprised that it got any kind of markdown at all.

Picked up X-Com yesterday; can't wait to start that. Other than that, I haven't found too much. Payday 2 looks neat, but I doubt I'd actually play it much. I really wanted the Legendary Edition of Skyrim to get cheaper...

I have had steam for a couple of years now but never used it all that much. I have heard of this 'Steam Sale' and the laments of gamers everywhere about how light their wallets become...I didn't believe them until now.

Whenever I get food now I find myself wondering what game(s) I could be getting with the money instead. As of now the damage has been relatively light with me ony purchasing Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. But I have several other games, an the list keeps growing, that is making my wallet shirk in fear.

It'll come back. The sale ends on the 30th, meaning the last day of the same is the 29th. Everything that's been on sale tends to come back on the 29th. Keep an eye on flash sales though. Flash sales have the lowest possible price, so it's good to get it then. Otherwise wait until it comes back.

Sales also roll-over. So what was on sale yesterday will still be on sale today, just down the bottom of the page.

I'm unsure of which of the 10000 different versions it is. I wish Ubisoft would stop fething around with its games and just release the game as something you can buy without needing a chart to determine what utterly needless Day1 DLC you'll get.

Still £112 for everything, but hopefully I can convince myself I don't need it all.
