I've found it pretty enjoyable.
On another note I advise skipping farcry 3 as it has many many known issues. Google farcry 3 crash and look in wonder at all the threads.

The BF flash sale has just ended, so a bit late for that.
Luckily I've already got, played, and gotten bored of Far Cry 3.

I picked up an intriguing little text adventure game called "Heroes Rise : Prodigy" and its sequel. I'm not normally the person who plays these, especially since I am not that much into superheroes - but the description sounded interesting, and all those positive reviews made me think that three bucks aren't much monies to risk and I should give it a try.
Boy, was that the right call. The game had me hooked right from the start. Played 'till 8am this morning. The story feels fresh yet with familiar elements, you have a bit of customisation regarding your character, and the game features a crazy range of branching dialogue/event trees that make it feel very "open" in regards to your choices (even more true for the sequel, Heroes Rise : The Hero Project). There's classic superhero themes, socio-political issues (both current and fictional), stunning twists, conspiracies, well-written fight scenes, and even optional romance.
People who like to read books should give this one a go: http://store.steampowered.com/app/299540/
Also, damn. Today it's Wasteland 2 and Project Zomboid. And here I thought that I could maybe escape The Gaben's grasp for once and survive a Steam Sale buying no more than a single game.

I totalled up all the Sims expacks and crap I want, and it's still £90. £90 For what should've arguably been in the full game. £90 Even when everything is 66% off. feth me, EA, I want this stuff but you're making it more and more difficult for me to want to give you money in exchange for it. EDIT: Decided against it; waiting for S4 instead.

I picked up Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and i just bought Banished. I've bought a couple of games i already had on 360 as well, however i've restricted myself to only re-buying if it's 75% or better.
Can't bring myself to buy any Ubisoft games, i haven't got a Uplay and i don't really want one.

Enemy within is an expansion of the original "enemy unknown" it' adds quite a bit and makes the game a little tougher imo.

There's an option to play either 'enemy unknown' or 'enemy within' when you start the game up. Saves from one don't carry over to the other. Hope that answers your question.

The latter - it's still the same campaign with the same ending, it "just" adds new features and some new missions; more stuff to do on in the middle, if you will.
In short: just buy everything, install the mod, and then have the complete experience right from the start.
Word of warning, though: I found out why EXALT was kicking my butt so bad lately. There's a numbers mix-up in one of the Long War inis that basically flips enemy research time modifiers around, making Alien and EXALT research go faster on lower difficulty settings rather than slower.
Fortunately, it's easily fixed. All you need to do is open the ini in notepad and swap the numbers. It's all explained here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/271xtz/long_war_exalt_missions_scale_very_poorly/
http://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/25rzwz/long_war_psa_a_bug_was_discovered_that_makes/
[edit] To clarify, in addition to the above: Yes, technically you get two buttons with which you can launch both campaigns independently.
There's really no point to this, though, because "Enemy Within" is just "Enemy Unknown +1". I suppose it was deemed necessary due to save incompatibility, but other than that the EU button is redundant, unless you intentionally want to remove those additional features from your game again.

To my knowledge 'enemy within' nerfed some of the better abilities in 'enemy unknown'. For instance they nerfed squadsight and buffed snap shot though nobody takes snap shot for the most part still so they just nerfed squadsight mostly. Squadsight doesn't get a critical chance to hit in enemy within unless you do a headshot or something. Sectopods are also a crap ton harder in 'enemy within'.
There are things people never talk much about like medals which are kind of useful. They also changed some of the officer academy upgrades. I preferred some of the older ones but luckily genetic upgrades and medals should fix some things.
Other than that there's one base defense against aliens, several new missions, a new rogue agency of illuminati dudes, new gear and just other stuff in general. The last patch I played heavily increased the price of mimetic skin though (it costs a lot of meld in comparison to all the other abilities). I remember way back when you could do it more cheaply and just throw a couple guys on some walls and use them to spot while cloaked. Helped even more when they were supports because you could still use items that didn't hurt anybody without revealing position (like smoke grenades and flashbang grenades).

Never had any problems with Squadsight. That was a vital skill. Enemy Within does allow you to randomise skills, meaning your Sniper may not even be able to get Squadsight, but I don't think they nerfed it.

They did. I played hundreds of hours to know they nerfed it. I think they also nerfed how 'in the zone' works with 'squadsight' since I used to rack up 6 kills with one after nuking the enemy with rockets all in the same turn. Now that kind of doesn't happen so much. The slightly buffed snap shot by taking away more of the negative penalty of moving before sniping.
I am currently totaling over 800 hours of xcom enemy unknown and enemy within play time. I played it to death and play it much more casually now when I have no other games to play.
Honestly I think I mostly just played without the 2nd wave options. The game is hard enough on impossible difficulty. I'd prefer to see if I can get an impossible ironman game done.
'Enemy within' plays a lot differently than 'enemy unknown' sometimes too. EW has a lot more mech enemies that lack area of effect attacks so things like smoke grenades become more useful whereas EU has more tough biological units. That said when you face EXALT they are all biological and have no psychics or any resistance to flashbang grenades so spam the crap out of em. Also EXALT is almost always one weapon and armor level tech behind. I will admit though they definitely have style. The EXALT base assault was kind of fun. I just wish there was more of em to knock around.

Once again I only played 'enemy unknown' and 'enemy within'. I'm playing 'xenonauts' now and it's a lot of fun though. I think I may use explosives more. Other than the laser cannon I haven't seen them in action much. Never got to use the rocketeer yet. Was about to try nuking the inside of an enemy UFO despite all the massive loss in tech but he managed to get sniped early. In the last mission I played I set up all my guys around the UFO and basically opened it with one guy and fired two laser shots into it eliminating every baddie in the main room. I suffered monetarily for it but it was glorious. I think I have the screenshots before and after since I knew it'd be glorious.

Not wanting to be the party pooper, but since this is about steam sales and not Xcom... iirc, we have a X-Com thread already I am not quite happy with the offers so far...lots of smaller discounts but a few good ones. I am looking forward to seeing more Early Access games on discount - at least those are ones we haven't yet bought!
