Did anyone see Devil's Knot?

I didn't think I would like it, but I thought it was a fairly good movie! ...although I don't know why on earth Slayer would sell the permissions for Reign in Blood for this of all movies.

Because selling permission to use Reign in Blood as part of the Soundtrack makes slayer a lot of money

Not seen the film, but I remember reading allot about the case in Metal magazines about 15 years ago. They where sticking up for kids and insisting it was a miscarriage of justice because apparently the prosecution had based their entire case on the fact that the kids liked Metal bands and that they had not real tangible evidence, it was all just bigotry and moral panic. Though I also remember counter claims that the 'satanic panic' aspect of the prosecutions case had been grossly overstated by the media and that the conviction really was quite solid.

I've not read enough about it to come to any conclusions. Does the film take a side or is it quite impartial?

It's practically a film reproduction of the documentary paradise lost, ive watched almost every documentary on the case

all 3 guys have been released with alferd pleas, so the state has basically said if there was a re-trial they would win as there is no evidence tying any of them to the murder's, and also the fact that they can't sue for being locked up for the 20 odd years

the trial was practically a joke and frankly disturbing that in the 21st century stuff like this still happens

IMO, there is a current running through the film that sympathizes with the accused, but generally speaking the film doesn't overtly take any sides, and is more of a courtroom drama than any kind of political statement.

I watched all 3 Paradise Lost films, and wtf!?!?!...this was a huge miscarriage of justice! There were so many holes in the prosecutions case, and reasonable doubt could and should have been established by any number of them. This is extremely scary to me personally, because while I didn't get into any real trouble as a teenager, me and most of my friends in high school wore black t-shirts and listened to metal music, so this really truly could have happened to any one of us in a similar situation.

The Knife's Edge film did not depict any suspicion against any of the parents, the fact that 1 parent was considered a suspect, and that a different parent is now popularly considered a suspect, which the HBO documentaries clearly did.

I'm a bit torn by the fact that the documentaries did strongly imply that 2 parents were good suspects for this crime. The cowboy dude is 99% likely to be innocent. Although he was a weird dude, from the facts available at the time of the 3rd film, now it seems likely that he was innocent of these crimes...but that 2nd film sure put the spotlight on him as the likely killer. If they didn't do that, however, I bet the one guy would be killed by Arkansas by now, and the other 2 would still be in jail.
