With Corvus Belli starting up the WarCor system, I was wondering how many Dakka regulars were part of the selected few to represent Infinity. I know IJW is, but not sure who else; if you want, speak up and we'll make sure to harass you more about the game.

What's a WarCor? I see there's one in the same and a near county to me. Is it people who can do demo games in shows and so on?

It's basically an Outrider/Pressganger but with a much bigger area of responsibility in some areas versus others based on the proliferation of the game itself.

RiTides, just curious, who would that be, if he is on this or the Infinity forum? I know the Northern Virginia WarCor ( Certs, forum name) and the Baltimore and vicinity WarCor (Bloodgod, forum name)

If nothing else he can impress Gutier Lusquinos at the NOVA. I'm pretty sure that would help.

Newcastle has two - but our local group has dried up (several have had babies in the last 6 months so won't be gaming for the next 18 or so years ).

The rest have university or work sundays (usual club days).

It's weird trying to do demos in a store environment for me. 90% of my gaming time in the last 28 or so years has been outside of a store environment (about 80% of our clubs are not located in stores). Playing in a store just 'feels' wrong to me.

Are you working out of Firestorm Games in Cardiff kyrellification?

Was thinking about applying for this as I constantly seem to be running demo games anyway, and there doesn't currently appear to be one in the Gloucestershire area. Wonder if they are still taking applications?

It needs updating. I told them to take me off the list as I withdrew from the program.
I still do demos (I do not call them "boot camps", "krugs" or whatever. I do demos and am currently running a 10 player slow-grow league - from 100-300 pts over 6 months) but there's no officialness to it and I'm fine with that.

Combination of not being able to log events and inability to get to a download or page in ENGLISH (Spanish may be fine for certain US areas but SFA people speak or read it here). The "click me" button for language change didn't work (I tried 3 browsers, it didn't work on any of them).

No, I run demos for local clubs, further west at the moment and swansea university(I work there in the real world lol) and looking to start in a new venue for regular ITS events soon (well as soon as a suitable premises can be found that is)

May try to do some stuff in Firestorm when I get the chance, that is a nice big venue so may try to organise a tournament or something there. I am doing a demo event in the Penarth show next year as well, so building up a board and demo forces for that as well.

I don't know who this meng person you refer to is. If it's what you young people use instead of "man/dude/buddy/mate" then please use English - as I stop paying attention after "nonsense word".

And I tried their page with FOUR browsers (Firefox 30, Chrome, IE for feth's sake AND SAFARI) on three different computers (two windows and a *spits* MAC) and couldn't get it to work in English. The "change language button" DID NOTHING. I don't CARE if you don't believe me.

Yes, fellow warcors tried to help - but I wouldn't have amounted to a cup of beans - the EARLIEST I could organise for anything to START until AFTER the two month period expired anyway (YES, the local STORE IS that tightly booked out) so doing anything as a warcor would have been pointless as I'd have been OUT BEFORE that activity counted for anything anyway. THAT is the main reason why I dropped out. I'd rather jump than be pushed. The OTHER Newcastle WARCOR ALSO jumped ship, citing similar reasons.

The earliest I could GET a timeslot or PEOPLE to play stuff, even a demo, is August. Why then? They know Icestorm is coming and thought that would be the PERFECT time to do it. We have people sitting on the fence waiting for 3rd ed before they jump in. They're willing to try it AFTER they get their ICESTORM boxes. They KNOW 3rd ed is coming, why should they try 2nd ed? Even telling them that Icestorm only has QSR and 3rd ed will probably be last quarter (like the previous three books) didn't help.

The Warcor project as we aussies see it, will work like majik in the US and other areas where the "store club" model dominates.
What it DOESN'T DO is work for the Aussie gamer POV. 80% (if not more) of us DO NOT play in a store. Stores are where we BUY stuff, NOT where we play. We're in "independent" clubs in premises hired for the purpose. We're in backyard sheds/garages. I know of ONE Sydney warcor who IS based in a store (but they are also a distribution hub), and it will probably work for him - I wish him well. He will get +5 points for ANY event HE runs in that store. The store club model is a new one here. While it IS taking territory, it is doing it in areas that don't have "regular" clubs and often fragments the player base in those areas (because cliques happen. The "store" crowd and "everyone else".)

(Yes, I know, tailoring a single program to work in all areas is a fool's errand. I get they are trying to grow the US market. I wish them the best in that endeavour.

So I jumped ship. My area currently has NO warcor as a result (yeah, yeah, mea culpa). Has this actually had any effect? Quite the opposite. AFTER I dropped out, I had 7 requests for demo games and one group asking me to run a league for them. We don't tend to trust "company men" here, apparently.

So I'm still going to be doing the same thing as you other people. Only I'm doing it because I want to have people to play the game with - not to get points or any other meaningless indicator of e-peen length.

Question about areas of gaming:
I know there's no Warcor in Ireland and the Dublin-area community isn't very active (trying to start some very first escalation league around here in the enxt few months)
Do you guys know if there's some Infinity activity in the NW of Wales ?
South Walves and Cornwall are a bit far with boat + ferry for a week-end (might have to have a look at plane tickets, an Infinity case ain't too bulky to transport)

Don't know about North Wales (as it is a fair old commute from the South). Flights to Cardiff will give you access to some tourneys there and Bristol may have some too.

Not much further West either other than small venues (though this may be rectified soon), I run a few small events there, but mainly at the club level.

Bristol gets you to Phlyk, who I don't think is on Dakka.
Exeter gets you to me, but if you can wait until November I'm running a big intro weekend, including a bunch of players flying down from Belfast.

*facepalm* In my mind, I expect to find NI in the "Ireland" section instead of the "UK" one (forgive a continental expatriate)
Indeed Belfast is only about 2h from me and I already went to some (other games) events up there
Might be interested in that Exeter event indeed ... Might even have painted some toys before that ! (I was checking the official forum regularly and am reading Datasphere too, so I'll see it when you post it)

Next plans are to build some scenery as I don't want to have the same scenery as everyone (even if I will probably mix in some MAS one). Yes I will post pictures when it's (eventually) done

At least you found one now :-)

You def should post pics of the scenery when it is done. My current setup uses a lot of saris precision stuff and packing crates to represent a supply hub, some cool gantry action going on and some unexpected lines of sight.

Going to be building a urban one for a show at the start of next year, so looking for some buildings for that, maybe MAS with some extra ones from elsewhere. Anyone know a supplier of more streamlined looking buildings than the MAS ones?

Not a huge range, but definitely a few interesting ones at decent prices http://www.wargame-model-mods.co.uk/ourshop/
Only a few good buildings (Science Fiction & Towers part), but definitely interesting (need to find a supplier who's not Australian though) http://www.miniaturescenery.com/ProductPage.asp?Code=SCF1WIDGETVP, great vehicles too
This one is interesting as well, but lacking some pictures (or maybe it's the office proxy) http://www.madmechaguy.co.uk/index.html

Some crazy amount of components for the DYI part http://www.evergreenscalemodels.com/ (notably I-Beams, channels sections, clapboard and maybe "board & batton")

I'll reply to your wall of text, which btw seems like quite a lot text for someone who "stopped paying attention".

So, dear Meng, I'll just comment on some hings.

First, to say that all the Warcors who are organising demos are doing it to stroke their e-peens is childish and unjust. We do it because of the same reason you do them. We want more players in our locale. We just get something extra. You don't because you don't want to. Fair enough.

We get stuff to give our players thanks to those points. Which means more prizes. Which means more people are interested in our events. You don't get those free prizes. Fair enough.

Second, your demos don't need to be in a store. It just gives you extra points. Since you don't care about the points, as you said yourself, you can organise demos at home with no apparent drawbacks.

Actually, your demos don't even need to have people attending them, apparently. If you organise a demo and no one shows up, tough luck. You did your share and the event should get you by.

Don't want to be a Warcor? Fair enough.

However, I'd ask you to refrain from strawmaning other Warcors, as some drooling morons driven by "e-peen length". It's just unfair.

There were no talks of this anywhere that I'm aware of, but I'm guessing after GenCon and the expulsion of inactive Warcors, Corvus Belli will initiate a new phase of recruitment. Since the system will kick inactive Warcors around the end of August, I'm guessing wave 2 in September?
