Seems we still have some more ork models on the way.

That looks a lot like what Grukk was explained like in the codex and rule book.

Either he is going to be a release as a character or he might be in the new 7th edition starter box as the Warboss for the orks.

Plus I remember Squidbot saying he saw this a month ago.

Check the artwork of Grukk in either the Rule book or the new codex.

and you will see that the following things are exactly the same on the model as the artwork for Grukk.

1: attack squig
2: the buzzsaw on the Klaw
3: same design of the bosspole
4: squig attached to Grukk by a chain
5: Combi weapon shoota + rokkit
6: a gun on the back under the banner
7: teef necklace
8: bullet for an ear-ring

yes Grukk is Goff not Badmoonz but the above can not be co-incidence.

Looks alarmingly similar (and to my eye worse) to the AOBR boss in terms of posing. I'd need a better shot to decide, but that doesn't look that great to me. Certainly not worth the inevitable £15+ price tag.

Also, they really are dragging out this Ork release, aren't they? This will be the 5th week, will it not?

i believe it is week 5 now with the mega nobz, but i did read 2 month release somewhere and it will end with the starter set that i heard was gonna throw in blood angels

Yes indeed very similar to the AOBR warboss.

why GW why?

That's an interesting idea, as I'd basically be a 2-month release with 2 armies and a starter (if that's happening...) Realistically, BA are probably going to be a 2-week release, as aside from the inevitable new Super-Blood-Knight-Walker-Flyer and a character or two, I can't see what else they could release outside of a codex.

Come to think of it, the plastic SM captain looked almost identical to the AOBR captain with a few changes, is it possible that they're basing some of these character sculpts off old models to save costs?

It's not Grukk. That photo is from page 71 of the Waaagh! Ghazghkull supplement for the Echoes of War mission: "Uniting the Clans". It is meant to be Warboss Snazzdakka.

Grukk is a Goff anyways, not a Bad Moon.

That warboss seems to be painted as a Bad Moon, while Grukk is a Goff. So I doubt the model is specifically for Grukk.

Because certain poses are easier to make into clip-together models made of the minimum possible number of parts?

He's a fair bit more dynamic and "3D" than the AOBR one but I could see him being a starter set guy, or a plastic clampack.

Nice attack squig.

I am quite liking the big attack squig! It's got teef!

Not really. Look at a real cow skull and you'll see it actually does have a line running down the middle.

OK if he is not Grukk. What ever but he is deff a new model.

plus as in the new codex they have used many other models just to show a character. Might be that this is Grukk model but was used as Badmoon Git.

Check the artwork of Grukk in either the Rule book or the new codex.

do all of these sound like co-incidence? That is Grukk model. some one just painted him yellow just because GW painted every thing yellow this time.

Bovine skulls actually do seem to have a crack like that running down the centre-line. Most skulls are made from smaller plates which are fused together.

EDIT: getting ninja'd pretty hard in this thread

I really liked the AOBR boss. SInce they no longer produce those models, replacing him with a somewhat better boss is a good move.

I doubt I will pick him up though since he will likely be $25 and just another version of on foot boss to go with the four other bosses that I painted and never field...

Painted armies:

Orks: 11000 points
Marines: 9500 points

It's where two skull plates join, so a mark of some sort would be appropriate, I just felt the image looked like a huge join between two pieces, rather than a subtle indent where two bones fused.

What else is there to say other than:

New war boss. Clamshell release most likely. $25 price range. Based off AOBR style just as Squidbot claimed.

and some how you ignored all the similarities between Grukk artwork and this model?

why is this model a spitting image of Grukk artwork?

Most likely the art for Grukk and the model are based off each other. But they aren't painting Grukk, they are sticking with this editions ork army, the Bad Moons.

Grukk has no rules, so it doesn't really matter much.

I have the book sitting in front of me. It's not labeled as Grukk.

If it is ANYTHING, it is a generic Warboss model that can be used to make Grukk.

Since from the start this one was off, and we do don't have the existing Ork thread...

...if some kind soul will volunteer to start a 'generic' Ork rumor thread, and keep it updated?
