The Bastion gets bolters, and more levels.
It's also bigger, as a LoS-blocker for bigger models.
The bunker is part of the trench network, and the bastion is in the ADL 'network'.

The bolters, one on 3 sides. They seem ok, but due to angles only 1 is really forward facing and as they are fired instead of a normal weapon surely your target is only going to be in LOS of one of those guns? just seems a little wasted. Plus in terms of firing points theres only a few. So any lootas I did put inside would be serverly hampered. On top I could squeeze a squad in. But atm it still seems like the bunker is better for me, as it provides 2 firing points of 4 models each. So 8 lootas. gun emplacements would have been cool, as grots manning heavy bolters could be damn effective... if they only faced the same way.
I see your point for LOS blocking of say a morka but tbh thats what I want them shooting

Bastion advantages:
-LoS blocker
-High vantage point
-Heavy bolter on each side
-Can take 3 with only a 50pt adl tax.
Disadvantages:
-Only 2, 2 person firepoints
-Costs more
-Short range or rapid fire weapons on the battlements greatly suffer for being further away (higher up) when shooting ground targets compared to a bunker.
Bunker advantages:
-Cheaper
-2, 4 person firepoints
Disadvantages:
-If taking 3 need to spend a 120pt tax on trenchworks

For the bastion, you actually have 3 2-man fire points, don't forget about the one on the ground floor.
Now, my question is -
With a double bastion kit, you can actually configure it 3 different ways. Is it legal to combine just the bottom part with the battlements? Is it legal to stack 2 middle pieces and have an extra tall tower? If so, where are the rules and points costs?
You can actually see it in pictures where they did the former config a few times in their book photos, with just the short bunker style, so just wondering if there were rules for it.

There are no rules about making your own, and only single kits should be considered official.
But, my club won a double-size Bastion from our local GW's raffle when 6th dropped. We use it as unclaimed, and it usually sits in the middle of the battlefield. So, no points are assigned to it.
To properly answer your question though, work out the proportion of the bastion that you're adding, and increase the points by that much. Add a medium room, add 40% to the cost, maybe. It won't be tournament legal, but if your opponent lets you, go for it.

I was just thinking of a Firestorm Redoubt with dual battle cannons upgraded to BS3 and a void shield. Expensive but fun little bunker of doom.
