Hello dakka!
Im working on some wordbearers and came up with a fluffy Lord idea.
Im going for the look of your classic prophet, living as a dessert hermit, hauted by visions of doom.
I also wanted to incorporate the black mace as a great wordbearer feature, and the twohanded mace felt alot like Lorgars own mace.

The pics came out really dark with dakkas auto image edit, hope you can make out the main features.
The model is far from flawless, but I really like how it turned out, and he fit quite well with the rest of the army I got so far.

C and C welcome and appreciated as always

I love the conversion.

It's exactly what you'd expect a word bearers lord to look like.

Very cool conversion.

That Black Mace looks killer too. I like the book also, makes him look really Wordbearer-ish...

Gets along better with animals... Go figure.

Thanks for the kind words!

@Ustrello: The maul is the weird axe-maul from the deathwing terminator kit, just with swiched head, so the arms was already attached to the weapon itself.

Hmm... So that means he's a Dark Apostle? He needs a First Acolyte and a Coryphaeus. Have you read the Word Bearers Omnibus, by the way? If you haven't, they're lead by a Dark Apostle, who is a psyker with awesome powers who inspires his troops, and a First Acolyte, who is his lieutenant. The First Acolyte could be anybody in the army, even a possessed... And the Coryphaeus is essentially their General/military leader. The Coryphaeus functions like an undivided Chaos Lord in terms of gameplay.

So really, you could field that mini you have as either or. It looks like you put some care into it so I figured I'd share that information with you. Maybe it'll help flesh your games out. Just don't forget that the codex profile of the Dark Apostle left out them being a psyker, and a very unique one at that. Any Dark Apostle you play definitely needs its own super unique and fluffy homebrew psychic power in addition to everything else. (Just raise the points cost)

Thanks for the tip.
Now that you mention it, I really need to read some more about them. I was totally sold on word bearers with "First Heretic". Im kind of picky though, when it comes to 40k litterature; Abnet and Bowden are great writers, but I dont even bother with most of the other hacks. Word bearer omnibus sounds tempting though.
And yes, Its a shame the rules for dark apostles dont do much for your army. I was thinking of calling him a Dread Apostle not to confuse things.
Im now very tempted to look into those other characters you mention.

The Omnibus' three novels are Dark Disciple, Dark Apostle, and Dark Creed. The first is basically a day in the life of a Word Bearers host. The second is a more unusual story involving the Dark Eldar and Tyranids, a bit less food for the tabletop but a lot of character development. The final book is easily the best. It shows you what other Word Bearer hosts look like, it shows you several different examples of Dark Apostles, Coryphaei, and First Acolytes. Last but not least, it demonstrates much more clearly than the first novel what a Word Bearers invasion is like on a planet. Also, the first novel spends like a third of its time showing you the life of a human slave of the word bearers, if you're interested in that. I enjoyed reading them all, although the second one seemed to drag its feet being more of a self-contained story.

An example of the psychic powers demonstrated by the Dark Apostle: Riding atop a Disc of Tzeentch, while being shrouded by thousands of tiny screamers swarming around him. It's been a while since I read it but I think his disc had railings and books on it, maybe even a reading stand.

Another psychic power used was possession of the corpse of a Space Marine commander (The Dark Apostle did this from an extremely long distance away, no real line of contact beyond his own psychic sight. His body was left in a vulnerable state while he was doing this)

A power demonstrated by the First Acolyte (which by rights would be applicable to a Dark Apostle) was using a holy number (8) of his brothers' corpses to spawn that many Bloodletters. It was explained that a single slip of the tongue would have fethed him over, but he never slips up. So make of that what you will.

The Coryphaeus wasn't a psyker. I'm sure other Coryphaei could be, though.

I have to say a great kit bash and wonderful paint job. I do have a concern about the beard however, but that is personal taste. As a Dark Apostle he is kitted out properly but he cannot be a sorcerer as the RAW states.

This is where the fluff and the rules bang heads with the Word Bearers. I have been gaming them for a number of years and with the new edition I started using a sorcerer. The Dark Apostle has been nerfed in the 7th

edition so I switched out to a Chaos Lord and the Sorcerer as HQ.

Good luck with the rest of the force and definetly read any WB novel, they are great.

A sorcerer just trades the psyker part for the... everything else part.

House Rules it. That's the only way. People shouldn't mind.

I love it but, add a little effect to the mace would make it pop some. IMO.

The mace and scrolls are excellent. Overall I really like the model, I may have gone a little lighter on the metal and darker on the red, but these colours probably fit your army. Good job
