I’ve run demos with my armies before, so yes.

As others have said, I’d want to be present, make sure they respect and are careful with the minis, etc.

It’s nothing that can’t be glued back together. Heck, every time I take my army out for a spin, 2-3 things need to be fixed when I get home, and I’m very careful.

My only condition for letting others play using models of mine is 'only pick up unprimed models at the bases'.

1400 points of EW/MW Italians (FoW)
2200 points of SoB and Inquisition (40K)
1000 points of orks (40K)
Just starting out with Ultramarines (30K)
Four 1000-2500 point forces for WHFB (RIP)
One orc team (Blood Bowl)

Well it depends on the person, some people are a little rough with models and tend to break stuff.

It mostly depends on the person. Most of the time, it would be yes though. If it's for a friend, well, it's sort of an obligation for me to share. A new player? I might be a little cautious, but I largely wouldn't mind.

I really appreciate the responses I've read. I would absolutely let someone who was interested in the hobby use my models. I have, many times, encouraged people who were watching me play, especially the younger kids, to take command of some of my units and roll dice with us. Growing the hobby is fun and rewarding in my experiences.

I've given away stuff I no longer use to friends provided they use it. I hate having cool stuff sitting on my shelves and not being used, so if someone I know will use it needs it, done! It just enhances my gaming experience in the long run anyway.

What I don't like is to be asked to borrow models for games because the person I'm playing thinks my models are part of his armory as well. That's a no-no.

I would and have allowed new players a tutorial of sorts using my army. The most recent of which I had my "Space Marines" be used against me by someone looking to get into the game while I used my primary force, a IG/AM army against him, even allowing him to use pieces of my bunker system (including 2 firestorm redouts and BC turrets) using the Stronghold assault book to which I matched with Escalation and a Baneblade.

The game took a long time and he had to leave in the middle of it but I think he enjoyed himself, I remember he said something about wanting to get Eldar or something to which before he left I directed him to a seasoned Eldar player for tips and such.

So im not above allowing other people to use my army. The only thing I won't do is allow them to use my more fragile machines, those with various wires and other pieces on them that could be damaged. But I have a large enough force that there are plenty of troops/tanks that can be used for such games by new people.

... this. I break my own models with regular wear and tear (especially stuff I didn't pin correctly when I made it). If I have the skills to assemble and paint the model once, I have the skills to do it again in a repair job. It would be irritating if someone else broke my stuff, but not really a whole lot more than that. Plus, it's not like I've ever broken someone's minis when I was playing against them...

Also, there's a decent amount of swapping that's happened between me and other guard players. Guard can spam things so ridiculously that it's sometimes hard to get all the models you need, especially at high points games. I've definitely lent people my tray of stormies or an infantry platoon, and borrowed the occasional Leman Russ myself.

This is very true, and in all honesty, I've never had any damage done to my models when others used them. In fact, the worst damage I've had done was when someone knocked my open case to the floor while I was back and forth taking models out, and even then, nothing a few minutes with a tube of glue won't fix.

Also, there's a decent amount of swapping that's happened between me and other guard players. Guard can spam things so ridiculously that it's sometimes hard to get all the models you need, especially at high points games. This too. The first and only reality of the Guard is that you will never have enough guys/tanks/lasguns, so I'm more than happy to loan out a platoon when I play a Vet list or a Russ when I play a foot horde.

I ran a game night at our FLGS for a number of years and had a lot of young teens showing up and a few in the 10-12 range.
If the kid looked interested and not likely to bust something through carelessness, I'd let him play with my army. If I was in a demo game
and an eight year old is peering over the edge of the table, I'd have them roll the dice and tell him what we needed.
Trust me, the kid would remember that. As long as the little weasels don't abuse the models.

I've done it before, no problems. Another reason to ldo so is when playing less competitive players than yourself...I let someone play my invisible draigowing against 4 imperial knights. Incredibly fun game.

Sure, but if they want an amazing army that can make an enemy tremble at their bases they will be let down.

As long as they don't spend the entire time saying things like "man, these guys suck!" and "why are they so crap!", they can play as much as they like.

Absolutely, especially if it attracts more people to play Sisters.

With my supervision, of course. If my army is there, I am too, because there's no way I'm wasting my precious, precious gaming time.

The models? Pfft, what's gonna happen, the backpack falls off? Another advantage to single-piece metal sculpts.

They don't break when you drop them... and nobody drops them on anything sensitive twice.

As long as am in the shop too and I know where the person lives am ok with it. My boyfriend borrows my Inifnity for ally henchman all the time. But I wouldn't give my army to someone random or at a big event . Some people had their stuff stolen, just because the ones that borrow armies don't look out for them as if they were theirs.

I voted yes; especially if its a new person just getting into the hobby. Also, I've let my buds run a few of mine so they could get a feel for armies that differ from theirs.

Our game store owner owns a large Ultramarines army and a large Deathwing army, plus has a painted DV display to give people a quick crash course in the game. Normally he teaches people who are interested.

If the owner happens to be busy there is usually at least a handful of 40k players around that are more than willing to teach newcomers.

If I'm there with models, I'll gladly lend people my army to learn. I would take them over to the game room and show them basics. Play a game with them or help them as they play someone else. The first thing I would teach them though is using care when touching other people's models lol.

As someone currently loaning about 500pts of someone else's army, I'm rather happy that people are willing to loan theirs

Then again, the army I'm loaning is unpainted, and you'd have to be very, very careless to damage SoB models without backpacks glued on...

Just a note - the poll and the situation the OP describe are somewhat different.

I let my friends use my armies all the time.

However, I also know that most of them are gamers and realize what work and investment goes into them, and treat them well.

Now, as far as to help a new person get into the game - sure, prolly.

Now, the minis they would get to use would be based upon how careful I might suspect they would be.

A person who might be well intended but careless - you can use my unpainted "lender" marines - don't want to give them any delicate or exceptionally fragile / expensive models.

Loan away from me. No.
Lend to play with while I'm there. Probably.

With youth, it depends on the kid. I can probably gauge pretty quickly whether this kid is going to treat my models with respect or as toys. I'd be far more likely to lend a kid an army if they were playing against me or nearby where I can keep an eye on them.

I'm always willing to let other adults use my models. In fact, our club has a painted-only rule, but we soften the blow by always having painted minis on hand for newbies who show up with-out figs.

This is also helped along by the fact that I dip most of my models, so the paintjobs are very durable.

I didn't answer the poll question, b/c it really needs more than yes/no options.

I for one would not anyone play with mine not because I'm a meany but because I have them in high regard and care too much if any accidents would occur. The time I've spent collecting, money spending, painting and modifying the minis automatically terms my attitude into a negative force on this subject. So no for everyone's sakes more so mine I would share my army with any player especially a beginner

I would be more than happy to let a newbi use one of my armies. Maybe then the army would actually get used. In fact, I would probably have more fun watching someone use an army I've painted then playing it myself.
