What have you bought, lovingly assembled, painted, used once or twice and has never left the shelf since?
I wonder if we will see the same units again and again?!
For my Marines -
Command Squad
Captain
Terminators
Scouts with Bolters
Scouts with blade and a powerfist.
None of them work for me but I had such big plans for them when I bought them!

Definitely my loan wolf and my wolf guard out of terminator armour. I used them once each and left it after, I just didn't like the way they played. Swapped my load wolf for long fangs and the wolf guard were better spent on grey hunter upgrades.

In my collection it's probably only my Jumppack Vanguard, their Chaplain and my Black Reach Cybot (the other two get used pretty regularly but MM and Fist just sucks without a droppod) for my Exorcists and the Thousand Sons and Berserkers for my Chaos.

My poor Colossus. Spent ages converting one from a Basilisk, as soon as he's finished the next IG codex comes out and he's not in it anymore...
WHY!?!?!?!
I don't use FW rules simply because it gives people grounds to complain/ refuse games. Soooo I'm stuck using him as counts-as.... atm he's my counts-as Deathstrike xD

How can it give people a cause to complain when the FW rules are identical in every way to the 5th Ed codex rules? If you're playing with people that are going to be that absolutely unreasonable then you have my pity.

Chaos Vindicator. I like its appearance and the powerful cannon, but back when I bought it I had little idea what's good and what works. It doesn't help that my regular opponent plays Tyranids, so the Demolisher either killed a bunch of Termagants or inflicted a wound on an MC. Such a waste of heavy firepower.
Also, Raptors. They've had several opportunities to blow up a high priority vehicle. They DS on the spot, hit with their Meltaguns, but what happens when I roll pens? Snake Eyes. That's happened a few times, so they are currently on holidays.

I came here to say exactly this, the dinobots have replaced my vindicator (not that I used to use it that much anyway), and Bikers are just waaaaaaay better than raptors IMO

The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar
|
It’s rare that I need more then 4 tac squads (and even that’s pushing it) I have 7 now. The old 2nd ed pushfits are getting dusty.
I still field tactical terminators, even though they get a bad rap. But the HF and second AsC haven’t seen the table since 4th edition, and I can’t remember the last time I fielded more then 5 (I have 11)
The techmarine with just a signum and a stormbolter was a staple is my 3rd ed shoooty command squad. Useless now
My non-sniper scouts. This will change once I get my LSS painted up.
I don’t think I’ve ever paid the points for Sgt. Chronus, but he will sometimes ride to battle as decoration.
All my TDA characters don’t see a lot of time on the table. The one who did, the chaplain, no longer fits into my LR with a terminator assault squad, so he’s mostly going to be on the shelf now.

I've tried using FW rules in my area before and if my opponents lose etc. they'll blame the FW rules and claim it's cheese. I've learnt to just use pure GW to give them less excuse for QQ'ing

The lone wolf is pretty awesome now, if he gets killed YOU get a point...if he survives, your opponent gets a point
Consider using him with the new missions

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

Genestealers are the first unit that comes to mind. I love the models; I look at them as one of the foundation Tyranid units, but they are just this side of useless. On the Chaos side, it would be Raptors; I love the models, but gaahh, too many points for not enough oomph. It should probably also be my 'Zerkers, but I am too stubborn to stop using them

On moon miranda.
|
Aside from Apocalypse games, I rarely field my IG Basilisks or Hellhound variants, along with my Demolisher Russ tank with glued in sponson weapons. My Hydras and Chimeras will probably be there permanently with what the new Astra Militarum book did to them.
Most of my CSM's, Eldar, and Tau have been on the shelf for a while now. I haven't used my Sisters in...years. my GK's I've used randomly as allies.
At this point for the last...year, maybe more, I've almost exclusively played either an IA12 Death Korps Grenadier list or an IA1V2 Armoured Battlegroup list, barring a few random games with the CSM's, Eldar and Tau.

I'm still hurting for my Monolith to be good. And Flayed Ones are seriously just......so bad. But Illuminor Szeras is actually pretty good. A S8 AP2 long range weapon, and gives a unit a free upgrade? I've had T5 Immortals in several games from him. So he's far from useless. Automatically Appended Next Post: Galorian wrote:- Lychguard
