I think I pre-ordered from thewarstore but I'm not sure. Not used to their way of handling things (first time I pre-order gw stuff from them so no idea lol)

Anybody have any idea precisely how limited this set is? In the past with the collector's edition codices they've always told you up front how many were available. The fact that they're not saying makes me kind of suspicious...

My FLGS appears to be getting 20 with no word that he'll be able to get any beyond that.

My lgs , after saying it wouldn't be a problem, was like "I should" be able to get it. Feth that. Just pre ordered it online. I hate dealing with "should".

Forge World do 40k centric tiles but this is a mainstream GW plastic 40K board.

I've seen the figure 5000 sets somewhere online, but whether this is a genuine post from somebody in the know or a wild guess I don't know

Seems a really good deal, (well for a gamer, you cant explain why plastic models are £66 to a girl friend ), but I've decided not to get it.

I take so long to do anything I worry these would just be sitting getting dust for a while I work through my boyz squads. Plus I feel I'd be trying just to recoup most of the spend by selling the wolves.

Think I'll sit this one out and pick up the rule book ebay. But fair play to GW, I'd like to see more of this sort of thing.

Well it says "while stocks last" so I believe it is more likely to be on numbers rather than time. I also rather think it will sell out as it represents a good deal (for GW) with plenty of re-sale value with the two characters.

Anyway, its all speculation.

I weakened and ordered it last night as it fits in with my Wolves expansion plans, the orks might end up as next year's armies on parade entry!

The entire company seems to be "while stocks last" nowadays.

...so, what's a fair swap so I can get another three killa kans. The wolf guard terminators?

I reckon so. I believe their retail value is about the same, so I think you'd be good there.

With respect to the 40k tile, the back page of this week's WD indicates next week's content includes Urban Warfare AND Dark Vengeance .

It says nothing about a new version of the Starter Set, just "Dark Vengeance".

More DV kits on the market will be good. Need to grab up another set of cultists and the tactical squad.

Limited time would make no sense, unless they're planning to dump a heap of excess stock as supposedly happened with Dreadfleet. The word is that it's a single print run.

I got both orks and vanilla SM. can I make the SW to vanilla guys without having to do extensive converting?


Also the battletiles look nice. I really thing that kind of product should be painted though. So boring to paint IMO.

Probably not, there's a lot of icons/detail/wolf pelts ect that would need removing, it's far easier to do vanilla to SW than SW to vanilla. However, SW make very nice allies to SM and this set basically has an allied contingent in a box! Add in a pod for the GH and a pod or LR for the Termies and you've got a nice allied force there.

The time it takes you to convert them you could have just worked a job and earn enough money to just buy the vanilla space marines, lol.

Probably not. They are covered with Wolf Pelts, Wolf Teeth, Wolf Tongue Hair gel, Wolf tooth bolters, wolf claws, wolf boots, the great wolf necklaces, wolf wolf Wolfy wolf.

However, depending on the bits you have, you COULD use their legs, arms, shoulder pads. Basically if you have bits of Vanilla torsos but not enough legs (Because thats the currency of GW models) then you could pretty simply convert them with some dangling wolfy bits to easily cut off.

That being said. As a wolf player... why would you ever WANT to do that when you could just play as Wolves.
