Subject: Where would your place be in Warhammer 40k?

This is something I have always thought about and I always think about with my nerd hobbies to relate to them more but now I want to see what other people think.
If you were somehow transported into the Warhammer 40k-verse, where would you fit in it as an individual or where would you like to fit into? In a galaxy literally of billions, who knows if any one of us would actually get to see the things we play out on the table top but it is a thought experiment and to me, always a way to explore the way we see ourselves.
For me, I can tell you right off the bat with my strong will and wanting to turn the mind into a weapon, I would be a psyker of some sort. Because I am on a crusade in life to help make the world a better place, I would then find myself in the Inquisition, more than likely as an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor on a quest to purify the galaxy from Chaotic corruption.
This has been challenged lately because of reading The Emperor's Gift where actually getting into the head of a Grey Knight has made me question whether my mind set is actually that of an Inquisitor or do I fit more neatly into the mind of a Grey Knight. My real life job reflects this since I go in and keep people from danger they know nothing about. To this, I would say that I am also likely to fit in as a Grey Knight probably as a Librarian. I would just hope that I would make it through the 666 trials to become one...

Most likely 99.9% of people on dakka would be slaves or servitors, or dead in 20 seconds.
|
Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Realistically, I guess I'd just end up as a normal, down-trodden Imperial citizen, simply trying to get by in life.
As for where I would want to end up, not sure. 40K's universe is notoriously unpleasant. Being an Eldar citizen on a Craftworld might be okay, though.

I'd likely to be who am I now, but on an Agri-world somewhere. Aside from all the bionics, Imperial life isn't that grimdark for the majority of citizens in 40K. The statistical likelihood of any Imperial world being attacked is like, millions to 1. So, life would probably be very similar for me.

That is why I put the "where would you like to end up" in there. Most of us wouldn't amount to anything giving the vast populations of each species. But given our knowledge about the galaxy, we have a more privileged view and have an aspect of something we would want to achieve.

With my luck? dead, chaos slave, imperial slave, spare servitor parts or a resident of a death world. Where would i want to be? Blood angels veteran marine in terminator armor with a heavy flamer or dual lightning claws, maybe second in command of the squad, or perhaps a dreadnought, contemptor pattern, fragstorm cannon with a heavy flamer in my own Lucius pattern drop pod. Hell id love to be a blendernought before i eventually die.

This is more like I was thinking and honestly, I will put an amendment on mine. I may be a psyker but most likely would of just got put on the black ships to be sacrificed to the Emperor with the hope of maybe being seen by the Grey Knights or the Inquisition before that happened. Maybe just a simple sanctioned psyker apart of an Imperial Guard regiment or Inquisitorial warband.

Oh well, i would love to be the Black Templars high marshal... But since 40k is a really $hitty place to live, knowing my luck and the fact i am not a person that likes to submit to someone's authority, i would probably be an imperial citizen declared a heretic because of sin of thinking with my own head, and then brainwashed chaos cultist/ cultist champion which would get killed by Space marine officer or turned into giant you-know-what if i manage to kill some scrawny IG sargeant in a duel...

With my luck, well lets see. I am born in the middle class of one of the richest, safest, most educated contry on the planet. I am 33 times richer than the average humen and my life expectency is 23 years longer. I am a white man, so I am also on top of the cultural food chain. I have a master degree, wich makes me more educated than 90% of the population of my country. If you translate that in 40K, I am an imperial citizen working has a teacher in schola progenium. I kill meek children and free thinker and I am rather rich without beeing monstruously privileged. Not too bad I would say...

I'll take dead in 20 seconds. I really wouldn't want to live in that universe. But if I had too not be dead...I'd be chaos follower of Malal/Malice. I'd be like a inquisitorial acolyte, working against chaos, but for chaos.

Mine translates pretty much exactly. In a soldier in real life and I'd be a soldier in 40k. Some low ranking officer on some planet. In fact I think lieutenant translates pretty much exactly to lieutenant.

This is similar to the way I see mine as well only that my job in the Coast Guard functions similarly to only one faction within the Imperium which is the Inquisition and the Grey Knights. It's partly the reason I chose to become a Grey Knight player as cheesy as that sounds.

Lesser Daemon of Chaos
The Eye of Terror
|
So here goes my story...
I'm going to start off as a Rogue Trader or some kind of Imperial Archeologist, and find myself on the 1K Sons old home world. From there, a warp rift will open up and drop me on the Planet of the Sorcerers, where mutation begins to take hold and I shift between glass, crystal, ash, tentacled thing and then finally back to something more functional. From the pure psychosis of being under Tzeentch's thumb and being forced to live within the infinite and boundless, I'll then recover some new scope or measure of my understanding before being scooped up by the great Lord Ahriman and told "the Truth" of the Ruinous Powers and the Great Conspirator himself. From there, I am charged with the purpose of a Dark Apostle and blessed with the abilities and such of a Chaos Space Marine at the head of a small warband of Thousand Sons; Not as a Sorcerer (yet) but as a guide and zealot to the Truth of Lord Ahriman.
From there, we depart among the webways and bring the mind-blasting truths of the Empyrean upon Imperial Worlds. While I am subverting the masses of latent psykers, shamans and all manner of would-be cultists, my brother Sorcerers will use their time (and their Rubricae) to steal the knowledge of these worlds back to Lord Ahriman himself. It is then that, over time and causality (or lack there of) that I accumulate my own personal guard of Terminator Veterans (1K Sons of course, so we're also talking about Psykers) while I also begin hording weapons for my own use, predominantly specializing in bayonetted rifles, assault cannons and all other manner of long range weaponry with the potential of bludgeoning a person to death in melee.
After enough of that time, I will be given a choice, or lack there of. Either myself, and my cult of Terminator Veteran Guard will either become a full-fledged Machine Cult in the form of Obliterators who are capable of slaying entire worlds with our combined fire power and psyker prowess, as well as the Word of Change I myself will have inherited as a Dark Apostle, or instead be lured completely into the warp where a very pleased Tzeentch awaits to grant me Daemonhood/Daemon Prince.
Now, unlike the Daemons we see tabletop wise, one must remember that such Daemons are simple analogies and the real Daemons are subject to as much variety as the energy they are taken from. So in my Daemon Prince form, I'll still be a swollen Obliterator, but shooting magic bolts and all manner of cursed word, rather than being the man with a bird fixed to its head like some bizarre totem pole.
In this later time, Ahriman will again call upon my services and this time, bind my Daemonic power to his beck and call (a willful exchange for allowing me the chance to walk the cursed path of Truth in the first place). From there, we will march on the Black Library again, and with my Machine Cult of Tzeentchian Obliterators and the archaic-magos weapons already consumed, we will blow a hole in the Libraries front doors where the my pact with Ahriman will be complete and a boon given to me which ensures not only my ready summoning at a moments notice, but that also my purpose shifts to protecting the newly claimed realm for Lord Ahriman as a whole.
A Mad Sentinel of Furious Magik and Absolute Truth. +__+
.
..
...and Phil Kelly and whatever other fanboy out there is stuck there with me, while I step on their bodies and yell things about Chaos they don't want to here.
Fxcking Space Marines.... and now the damn Guard too. lol
