I'll remind you that Akin lost his race. I'll also remind you that the exact same sentiment can be applied toward Democrats who oppose the Republicans.

Might as well include all politicians. Except Dakka OT has a tendency to focus on Republicans dumb comments. Democrats are pretty much not touched.
I can reach back 30+ years on stupid comments of all politicians and POTUS

I don't know if we can call Bush's "right hand and left hand" statement stupid because we don't know if he's talking from his left and right or the audience's left and right.

And most likely, he doesn't know either.

Well... if it's a Democrat, most publications bury party affiliation as far away from the title or first paragraph. But, if it's a Republican, that information is smeared all over the place.

Case in point, let's play... /In Bob Barker's Voice™

Where do you see Nagin's party affiliation?

Conversely, here's some Todd Akin's example and notice when the first time his party affiliation is mentioned:

This is SOP, doncha know?

What's SOP is you picking sources to make your point.

Like picking a fairly neutral news source talking about a democrat and comparing it to liberal mouthpieces talking about a republican.

Now if you want to be consistent you would compare an ABC news article to an ABC news article:

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/us-rep-akin-defends-legitimate-rape-remarks-24506709

Which is pretty equal in "party status emphasis" in both articles, Nagin and Akin.

Or if you wanted to compare partisan propaganda stations you would have posted MSNBC and this:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/09/10-year-sentence-for-ex-new-orleans-mayor-nagin/

Which makes sure to point out the party affiliation pretty quickly.

But that wouldn't fit your narative...

It wasn't picking and choosing... those were literally the links on Google's first page.

Look, we can play this game all day long D... the Los Angeles Times and a New Orleans Times Picayune storyeven fails to tag Nagin as a Democrat.

That New York Times story, finally gets around to mentioning that Nagin is a Democrat in Paragraph 8.

Kevin McGill's Associated Press story on Nagin, mentions that Nagin is a Democrat in its fourth paragraph.

The point is, Co'tor stated:
 Co'tor Shas wrote:
Stupid but nowhere near this level. Dammit jihadin, it's a stupid politicion, not partisan politics

Which if true, then why lead the thread with "Republican..."? It gives something indicative that only applies to those who are Republicans.

Reminds me of this old saying regarding the old school media... to paraphrase:
When Republicans do something bad... it's Republicans™ doing bad things. When Democrats do something bad, it's the individual doing bad things.

You label the thread Republican because the topic is a Republican.

It's not rocket science, it's not some conspiracy by the liberal lamestream media taking over Dakka, it's the topic of the thread.

Eh, any headline that discusses comments made by a "lawmaker" are basically just focused on getting hits. If the statement was made by anybody important, there would be a more specific title.

though, you could argue that the #2 senator in the Kentucky State house is something, I generally don't get too impressed by State legislators. Federal bias, I suppose.
