so I just finished the book

"Fear to Tread"

I really liked the way they showed all the possible outcomes of sanguinius, from him becoming emperor (as calgar would have made him), to him literally spearing horus through the chest and him and the GeoMK living on, to him breaking horuses armor, to him actually falling to chaos, to him just dieing.

what would have been your preferable outcome? which one do you think would have held the best hope of humanity in it?

You might want to mention the spoilers man, people might not of read the book yet.

But now that I know what happens, I'd of liked the outcome for the Imperium where Saguinius becomes the new Big E. Emps himself was a little too Space Hitler-y , and I'd like to think that Saguinius would of been better for the Imperium in the long run. Also the blood angels would probably be better off, we'd probably still have the Legions. Maybe we'd even have some of the Primarchs still.

To be honest, I'm not too bothered what happens in the HH books, the outcomes the same. The Emps pimp-slaps Horus across time and space.

Maybe but that's not really the point of them, With the HH the phrase "it's the journey not the destination" that applies.

When does Marneus Calgar decide that Sanguinius should be Emperor? And why is he even in the HH?

I seriously hope so, because otherwise I need to reread Unremembered Empire...

I like that he included the chink in Horus' armour, It's a nod to 2nd Ed I believe, and is supposedly the weakness that allowed the Emperor to launch his psychic assault on Horus.

I think that it is also mentioned in a vision that Kai Zulane has in The Outcast Dead.

*facepalm* guilliman. Calgar is just guilliman reborn though so JTS whatevs ;p

Even if Sanguinius had speared Horus through the chest he would have bent his knee when The Emperor walked in. It's how he is. Loyal.

The imperium would be in a pretty good state if he had done that. Maybe The Emperor would have then gone back to his "great works" and left Sanguinius in charge.
