So awhile back during a MTG pre-release that I was working, I had a lot of time to think about a list I wanted to run though could never make it work. Keep in mind I did wrote the list in 6th ed. It consisted of the following:
OMI TDA Pskyer Psycannon 2 Servos
OMI TDA Psyker Psycannon 1 Servo
10-man Strike Squad with Psybolt and Psycannon
10-man Strike Squad with Psybolt and Psycannon
Land Raider Crusader Psybolt
Land Raider Crusader Psybolt
Roughly 1250 give or take me forgetting some things.
But the problem was this list had was the lack of scoring units and the survivability of vehicles.
Now with 7th out I started to rethink this list and how could I make this work at higher points keeping the same theme in mind. Land Raiders. I started to play around the idea of adding C:Inquisition and adding another OMI in TDA and another Land Raider. But,(this was 6th) you couldn't put characters in each others transports. But now you can
Am I worried about flyers? No
Am I worried about pskyers? No
Am I worried about blobs of enemies to mow down? No
This was never meant to be hulk smashing list. Just something to try and play for fun a couple times (yes several land raiders aren't fun to play against but I play Tau and Eldar who spam the usual stuff).
What do you guys think we could add?

In practice I have found Strike Squads to be lacking in close combat and it seems the LRC's assault vehicle aspect would be wasted potential on Strike Squads.
You could deep strike those Strike Squads and add Razorbacks if you have extra points or put them in a Rhino to fire their Psycannons from while the LRCs take the flanks. This would add threats to the board and give you more warp charges.
Then take Death Cult Assassins or Purifiers as your CC units inside the LRCs. Purifiers have 2 attacks each instead of 1 plus they can use their Cleansing Flame ability before charging. I've never used Death Cult but I hear they're good at cc too.
This would bump your points up to the 1500-1850 range but it would certainly be a fun list.

Never planned them for CC.
Idea was to take mid and dump out the strikes on objectives or ruins and camp while the land raiders did work.

Then why take land raiders? I mean I get it's the "theme" but given that land raiders are one of the only assault vehicles wouldn't you want some kind of drago death-star in there?
If you just want supporting firepower rifleman dread knots or razorbacks/rhinos are a better/cheaper(points wise) fit.

Because I don't want them to assault and armor 14 can be scary to some lists. Point for them was a safe transport up to midfield and dump them there while harassing with the raiders.
Granted I never tried this list so I don't know how well it would work.
Also I have really bad luck in assault lol

GKSS are only really good vs other PA units in CC, they tend to fail pretty hard for me in most other cases in CC (unless they are fighting CC against TAU)
GKSS are okay, but our book has strong units and better all around units. purifiers/ purgation are better shooters. Purifiers are better CC. Also can bring way more heavy weapons.

I get that you want the threat of Armor 14 to overwhelm your opponent but Land Raiders will go down in assault easily if you don't have CC units inside to stop them or at least Dreadknights nearby to counter assault. But since Dreadknights occupy the same slot as Land Raiders that won't work so well.
GKSS are like annoying gnats to the opponent instead of big threats. Any dedicated CC unit will tear them apart and any shooting unit will out shoot them. They're support units and not good as the meat of an army. You need something heavy hitting in those Land Raiders to make them a real threat. The GKSS can arrive via deep strike or ride around in Rhinos/Razorbacks doing what they do best... being annoying and maybe killing something and grabbing objectives.
You could go with an unbound list and just run Land Raiders and Dreadknights for the lols but I doubt many people will enjoy playing against that.

What kind of list are you going for, a Battle Forged list or an Unbound list? If it was an Unbound, I would agree that the GKSS aren't quite needed.
I think people are underestimating the power of GKSS but I run a Battle Forged shunting army that relies on DS and Teleporting. My GKSS have never been the heavy hitters in my army but they do their job well none the less. They DS where I need them either as back up to another unit or a quick scoring grab and they are less expensive than Terminators.
Are Purgations even still viable with their main advantage of being able to shoot around corners taken away? I understand they can bring more psycannons to the field but I still think it is a waste of points.
My problem with Purifiers is that their main advantage is taken away as well. Their purging fire used to be able to go off just at the start of the assault but now it is put into the psychic phase making it more of a tactical decision for them. It also means you might be dumping a lot of warp charges into one squad to activate fire, activate force and put hammerhand on. The one thing they have over GKSS and Interceptors is cheap halberds but they are more of an expensive unit, can't deep strike so they rely on armor to get around quickly so they could go into the land raider to over infantry support or a rhino/psyback.
Personal Transports just leave a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to building GK lists but it is the only way to have Purgation and Purifiers get around reliably but I just seem them as more point cost in an army that already suffers from high point costs.

I always liked Strikes and had a lot of luck and success with them. Either MSU rhinos or deep striking back lines to harass. This was just another idea I had to use my Strikes.
Personally for me, Strikes aren't leaving my lists.

Yes, and I got a chance to test this list out at 1250 against some IG and it did well. He didn't have anything to deal with the raiders until I got close. Some strikes died but due to placing and ruins they made it through.
