Subject: Necrons vs Dark Eldar - Maelstrom Mission - 1500pt Video Battle Report!
This was one of the most intense games I have had in some time. Tactical, all about the movement and the end was determined RIGHT at the end... it was so close.
Thanks for watching!
So sad to see that Barge lord go down, makes my heart hurt a little, but yeah....thats why I stay away from wyches with that thing....But good battle report guys.

Another really entertaining Battle Report. I like your approach to Dark Eldar. I'm used to seeing nothing but Venoms and Ravagers with a couple of Eldar's best units sprinkled in.
I must say I have enjoyed my games utilizing the Maelstrom cards (We have been playing the BAO missions) but I really dislike those D3 cards.
Too much of a potential swing in the game for accomplishing the same task IMO.

@ Krodark - Yeah, the overlord on a barge met the demise of the haywire... Fred then made that mistake again in our next game! I dont think he will do so again.
@Solosam - Thanks! I don't have any major games against those opponents planned out yet. But I will try and get some more variety of opponents on the channel.
@Eldarain - Yes. The Wych cult Dark Olympiad list is varied, and is really me playing an already hard army to master on "Hard" level... lol. But its rewarding to play. Although sadly for competititve play, its venoms and raiders and ravagers! lol. I like the D3 cards... There is nothing like luck to determine a game... after all we play a game that is random at its core! (and even the great tacticians in history state that a good general aways requires a bit of luck on his side).
Overall, very good report. Maelstrom does require a different approach to playing the game and I think this report is starting to show folks about the strategy involved (and yes, a bit of luck).
Thanks for sharing.
No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Maybe it's just my history with dice but the randomness on the already required rolls is more than enough for me
In your game you played really quite masterfully against a pretty standard Necron power build which wasn't played with nearly as much tactical acumen and if the D3s had gone the other way you would have lost 15-12. That would have irked me in your position is all.
But like I said great report. I appreciate the effort you put in to these for our entertainment

By that same turn of logic a lucky turn of shooting can turn a game aroound in an instant.

A fair point. Though I'd counter that in your example there is still the placement of the units (vis a vis ranges and cover saves LoS etc) and many more dice to roll lowering the chance of such an extreme shift in the games outcome. In my example it is 4 D3s which can completely shift the winner and loser.

@Sarigar - Thanks for watching!
@Eldarain - Im glad you like the reports. I have a lot of fun making them.
@Mythantor - My point, even in "real war" luck plays an important part, being in the right place at the right time, weather and other natural events... it all plays a part.
@Iambsandiions - The wraiths moved up with the destroyer lord. SO, I jumped out with the Succubus and wyches and the beastpack. Unloaded A LOT of shooting into them, blinded them with a defensive grenade and then charged in with the beasts and the wyches wiping them all out.
what do you think I coul dhave done differently? I feel like if his dice woul dhave been a bit better it would have annihilated me. or if he had different cards as well. Should I have pounced sooner? And what if he had not rushed me and just stayed in the center of the table, what wold have you done?
When I play DE against necrons I always sit back on a few objectives and utilise the night shields on my vehicles as the range on almost all necron guns is 24" or less, so I use the 36" on the raiders, venoms and others to just pick them off from a long distance. Nice to see haywires being used effectively against necrons, as they are one of the armies I hate the most, although I loved seeing the look on the necron player's face last game when I killed his 250 pt c'tan with a 75 pt venom! Great batrep
