Pretre, you double posted the LF edition. And disregard, you already fixed it.

The Companies of Fenris book sounds really interesting as I was just planning to build my new SW army around Sven Bloodhowl because I wanted to paint my marines with a reddish orange color to go with the dark grey blue. I also love his fascination with fire...can't wait to see how he actually look...maybe he'll even be a special character in the codex...

now I wonder if that book will be available separately because I'm not paying 220$ CAN and I doubt anyone will scan this anytime soon

WTH at Codex: Dreadnoughts. Do you guys realize that the current BA codex literally allows to field an entire LEGAL ARMY (ie not Unbound) or Dreads?

Man, it's like each limited edition is less edition and more limited!

This one doesn't even seem to come with the objective coins that the Ork one came with. Also note the "as yet unreleased" Companies of Fenris that is included. That can be read as "book which will be released the next week, without a ridiculous mark up for some tiny art prints".

I don't begrudge anyone buying this (I buy plastic toys that I have to put together myself--and I pay more for it--so who am I to judge) but I could honestly believe that there is some guy at GW who secretly hates the idea of limited edition books but who has to put each release together to keep his job, so he keeps releasing each one at a higher price with less content, but they just keep selling!

If they had released something really nice, like the Wraight limited edition that came with Arjac's shield, I can understand it, but this stuff seems to be "new cover which is less interesting than the normal cover, supplement, supplement we will sell next week, tiny prints that no one will frame, and a box". I am a HUGE ork fan, so I almost bought the ork one (until I realized I liked the normal covers better), but even then, I felt like a nob for thinking about buying it.

Both editions have the coins. Price is pretty steep for content that will be available later. Except the aforementioned coins.

Don't be confused there's two new books in two different editions:

1. the supplement detailing Grimmar's Great Company is called Champion of Fenris and obviously ill be released as a later date

2. the other is called Company of Fenris ans is a pure fluff book detailing four Great Company's uniforms and background and it might only be included in this limited edition

I'm trying to understand why they gave Murderfang Furious Charge, when the Murderclaws already have a Strength value and can't be modified. If they said S: User, then I could see it. So what's the benefit of giving Murderfang Furious Charge? The Rampage special rule does not take into account base size or anything else when it comes to being outnumbered. Seems kind of funny then that Murderfang will just about always have +d3 attacks every round. It will be funny the first time he is challenged though. "Monstrosity! I challenge you! Come and... oh dear Gawd! What have I... no... ahhh!" screams abruptly cut off to be replaced with the sound of Murderclaws eviscerating the challenger. Murderclaw: "RAOR!" The additional wounds carried over into the unit are people falling dead in fear, or being incidentally hit by the huge, whirling Murderclaws...

If I were a technologically advanced race going to war with a Space Marine chapter with a robot named 'Murderfang', I might be pooping in my pants a little. Let's say I was a Tau Crisis Shas'vre. I was born into the Fire Warrior caste, and studied war/fought in wars for my entire life. My actions and deeds have allowed me to rise through the ranks, and I have brought much honor to my people until I'm now piloting a XV8-B MK II Crisis Suit. It has a built in darksun filter, multispectrum targeting and scanning system, advanced salvo micro missile system, and the new GH-23 Kinetic Fusion Blaster weapon system. I have fought the forces of the Imperium before, and have not been impressed except by their barbarity on the battlefield. Now, on the eve of battle, I'm handed intelligence on a new threat: A hulking, primitive robot machine piloted by the (mostly) dead carcass of a fallen warrior named 'MURDERFANG'. Its primary armament is listed as two claw like weapons made of a cold, almost icelike metal that never melts called "MURDERCLAWS". Appended is the last video recordings of Murderfang charging a unit of Fire Warriors, belching fire from a secondary weapon and both Murderclaws whirling before blood and screams are heard in the video. A Crisis suit lands nearby, and unloads both it's Kinetic Fusion Blasters at point blank range into Murderfang. An unearthly howl of rage comes from Murderfang as he simply... guts the crisis suit with the still dripping, bloody Murderclaws just recently used on the Fire Warriors. It's brutal, and savage on a level never seen before, and it's hard to believe that Humans are considered a technology advanced race. Who, or what kind of race would create such a...thing for war?

Just for this visual alone will I have to purchase Murderfang. Though it's absurd with the use of 'Murder <noun>' everywhere, the psychological impact on my opponent would be worth it. "And now Murderfang charges. He has two Murderclaws and Murderlust, meaning 4 base attacks, +1 for two claws, +2 for rampage, and oh! You out number me so I'll get +d3 more attacks... with rerolls..."

Broadside Bob: What's the blue box screaming about?
Broadside Ted: I dunno... I think he's coming for us, though.
B.B.: Hmm, it sounds like he's saying something over and over again, though.
B.T.: I think I hear it? What's with the weird claws on his primitive arms?
B.B.: Is he saying "MurderMurderMurderMurder?"
*bolter fire peppers the two*
B.T.: Awe, that's cute... look, he's trying to get to us so fast!
B.B.: Yea, he got wedged on the piece of rough grass for a bit, shame. Hey, wanna end the stupid murder chant and grab some kroot wings?
B.T.: *Lifts up Missile Batteries* Dibs on the blue things.

Sorry, thought I'd forge the actual narrative that would happen to Mr. Wolverine McStabby-IceClaws. Replace Bob and Ted with Garry and Harry, two Wave Serpent Pilots, or Jill and Sue, two Exorcist players, or... you get the point. This scenario plays out with any Av12 dread. It's either easily offed or simply "backing up" works.

(I might add that your story is cool and that's how Dreads SHOULD be. That I how I saw them in Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2. I was gutted, as a newbie payer, when told I don't want them as they are just a fancy paperweight to hold your list down after the first turn in games. That was in 5E. Two editions later, still awful save the Av13 variants from BA, SM, and the FW patterns.)

Personally I think the alien newermelting ice claws far more silly than most of the other stuff.

What they need is a series of fenrisian murder mystery books to establish the character.

And 6 or 12 art prints. But yes, I agree with you. Not a lot of unique value to go with those premium prices.

Yeah, the narrative that will be forged against most armies is:

Random soldier 1: "Holy crap, they're falling from the skies!"
*drop pod falls to ground*
Random soldier 2: "Why is that blue box they dropped standing there flailing at us?"
Random soldier 1: "Oh it's one of those dread-thingoes, oh, it's moving slowly toward us"
Random soldier 2: "Don't worry, Fred over there is equipped with a *insert name of anti tank weapon"

*BOOOM*

Random soldier 1: "Thank goodness for Fred, it would have been really worrying if that flailing blue box stumbled close enough to hurt us"
Random soldier 2: "Yep, good ol' Fred with his *insert name of anti tank weapon*"

Fred: "Hay Guys!!! Wanna grab a coffee?"

Not quite. Warboss edition is equivalent to the Long Fang version. Two books, 6 art prints, 6 coins.

The WG edition adds 6 more prints and an additional book (three total books). At a $70 upcharge.

In truth, I'll assume the books are $50 each. That is either $100 or $150. So you pay $80 extra for the LF packaging, 6 prints, and 6 coins. Or $100 extra for that, plus 6 more prints.

I have a feeling that "The Great Companies" might be like the Imperial Knight Companion book...which would easily be worth another $50 or so.
