So i just ordered a gaming mat from Frontline gaming, and was wondering if anyone who has one, or used one was happy with there use/purchase? I built a gaming table myself, but constantly hauling it inside for a game, then back to the shed was getting on my nerves! (And lord help me if i scratched the wifes dinner table lol), so this seemed like a pretty slick compromise for my situation.

Thoughts/comments are welcome!

Thanks

I own one, the Blast zone mat. I think it is fantastic. It is a great surface to play on. I plan on getting others in the future.

One note; when you open the box the odor will be quite strong, but it disappeared after a week or so.

I think you got the order of operation wrong - perhaps you should have asked prior to purchase?

I've seen one in person and thought that it was fine. For me the lack of visible texture, etc. is a bummer, but I think the cityscape is probably the best.

I've played on the city mat twice, was a great gaming experience and brought the table to life. They're great compared to the realm of battle boards.

Are there any stores in LA etc that carry the frontline mat, or is it online only?

I agree with TheSilo - "better than realm of battle boards" - absolutely.

Another vote for the Urban map - it looks damn fine with some Battlefiled in a box terrain or GW buildings on it. Encouraging me to finally finish some of the big pieces.

Somewhere in south-central England.

My gaming mat is a textured piece of fabric from a UK based supplier. It is a "brown desert" pattern.

I used it for the backdrop for my Hive Fleet Kielbasa photos like this one...

This shows that a roll out mat can have a very good texture. If you want something with a more elaborate printed design it will have to be flat.

I got one during the Kickstarter and absolutely love it. Wish I'd pledged for more as shipping them now at retail is very expensive.

I think a gaming mat is a brilliant idea. I was thinking about buying some cloth and making my own - then again, they are not that expensive, so I'm not sure if it's worth all that trouble, as printed mats do look really nice.

The Frontline mats will serve you well. Got to play on them at LVO and my club ended up buying 2 of them as well. They roll out easy across any table so you won’t have to worry about scratches. Plus if you do spill something on them if comes right off.

I've got the city mat 6x4 and have really enjoyed it. Great themed board, easy to move models, roll dice and store. Fantastic purchase.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
