Can the furious libby replace it's storm bolter with a melta gun? I have seen them modeled that way, but the rules in the Dex say storm bolter....
Thoughts?

No ... once you upgrade the Dread to a Libby you can not upgrade it at all ... and all previous upgrades are traded in to become a libby.

I do not have the Entry in front of me, but it depends on the wording. If it states a Model may, or even 'it may' as they occasionally do that for single Model Units, without naming a specific Model within the Unit then the upgrades may be purchased regardless of what the Model is. Should a Model be named as part of the Option, then only the named Models may legally purchase the Option in question. Like wise, if the Option state that it must swap X or Y pieces of war-gear as part of the process, then those pieces of war-gear must still be present to legally select the Option. If it something is an upgrade to a different named Model, and the Options in question are for the original named Model, then we enter into a strange Gray area of 'does the order of purchase matter?' Strange because I have seen Frequently Asked Question answers in the past which allow upgrades based on purchase order, and others which deny upgrades regardless of purchasing order....

This:
Q: Can a Furioso Librarian take additional wargear (such as extra
armour)? (p29)
A: No.
used to be in the FAQ. Now it is no longer.
Jinx, the options do not specify model, or Furioso Dreadnought. It simply says Replace X for Y, or Take Z. The very last option, is upgrade to Furioso Librarian, exchanging all wargear for A, B, C, and D.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

With the libby dread it says that you exchange all wargear for a blood fist with storm bolter, smoke launchers, psychic hood, and force weapon.

Awesome. Thanks dudes. I have mine ready for priming and had modeled it with the SB. I was going to be upset as who would not take the melta if possible.
Thanks for clarifying for me.

HappyJew,
Is it sad that I morn the removal of some answers, given my hatred for Frequently Asked Questions acting as unexplained and unofficial Errata in the past?
Still have some questions, mostly if it falls in that annoying 'purchase order' Gray zone, but the lack of access to the book will mean I just let the matter go at this point. Besides, there never was enough 'evidence' to try and figure out what the Authors wanted to do with purchasing options anyway, so it would just be another useless exercise. Instead we will just point people towards the previous Frequently Asked Question answer, given that it was specific for this Model and there is no reason to believe that it remains unchanged when nothing else concerning said Model has been.

Which really annoys me. I know several people who are recently started playing, and didn't play in 6th edition. It's a pain to convince them that somehow obsolete rules still apply to them.
