I am going to a tournament and one of the better players there plays sisters of battle with an imperial knight. I have never played against one and considering the rest of his list it seems like its hard to deal with all the threats at1500 points.

He plays roughly
2 min squads of sisters in rhinos,
Aegis
2 dominion squads with imolators,
Celestine
3 exorcists
Imperial knight

Im playing
Spiritseer
3x5 wraithguard (one with d scythe)
3 wave serpents
2x3 guardian jetbikes
20 guardian squad (2 brightlances and warlock)

I have struggled beating him before, but with the addition of a knight i dont know how to deal with it.

play the game over trying totake it out. it will be difficult to kill with any TAC list. Use cover to LOS as much as possible. What type of game missions will you be running.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

Pretty sure 7 ed eternal war.. yeah the problem is i doubt there will be much los blocking terrain at the tourney. If i can survive i got him beat in capturing objectives.. but his survivability and damage is pretty horrendous. Shoukd i reserve everything and just late game obj grab?

What about fire dragons squad in a waveserpent. When the knight comes close disembark such that half the squad is in front ark and half is in side ark (to mitigate his 4++). I guess the wraiths could do this in your list but the melta must be cheaper and more effective.

3 exorcists =10 shots = 6 hits = 2 failed jink saves. So you loose a waveserpent every turn or two if you ignore them. But popping his rhinos is probably a priority.

You basically need to send two good anti-tank units at it simultaneously so you can get around the Ion shield (by having them in separate facings)

If you can't do that then you are just going to have to ignore it as best as you can (such as by tarpitting it)

I play against a buddy in every tournement that fields max IK's or half IK with MSU GK for cheap scoring. Knights are tough, but bringing something that grants stealth/shrouded to your units is money. Manuvering your opponent to force him to move through difficult terrain will slow his advance too. I recommend finding ways to out manouver him, and have high STR shooting attacks on two or more AV facings. He will throw shields onto what ever side you choose to put your strongest attacks on, but if you split your shooting evenly amoung his AV facings, half of your shots will not have to get past his Invl saves. What I also do with my 30-termegant brood is tar pit him. I string my blob out so that I can keep most of them safe outside of combat and ensure the combat lasts 3-5 player turns as I slowly congaline them in at their pile-in step. If you got haywire, it also helps to reliably strip hull points.

You want to do that every game.

I have no idea, but if his list is painted as well as it is fluffy, I really wouldn't mind losing to him

This was discussed before, but I digress.

As an Imperial Knight player, my greatest weaknesses are high maneuverability and volume of fire. If you can attack from multiple angles to mitigate the Ion Shield, that's your best option.
Eldar are fairly good at doing this; and wave serpents can put out enough firepower at side armor to whittle away hull points.

The problem with ignoring Knights is that it's hard to do so. Especially since they can move 12" a turn and potentially charge 12", and the weapon range is well, the whole table for Paladins and most everywhere else for Errants.
They're going to be somewhere, ruining something. If you can accept that and formulate your strategy to mitigate that happening, then it may work for you.

Flyers are definitely a weakness for Knights in the sense they literally cannot shoot them with main weapons, but unless you're heavily spamming flyers (which most people don't), they haven't posed too much of a threat since they are dependant on reserve rolls/angles.

The way I see it, Imperial Knights have three weaknesses:
Weight of fire to get around their shields. A knight doesn't care about anti-tank from one source, they'll have a 3+ or 4+ Invuln on top of their armor. What they DO care about is anti-tank from many sources. If you can flank them, then half your shots will be doing twice the damage that they would if you attacked from a single direction.

Flyers are another big one, simply because Imperial Knights are literally incapable of harming some of them, and nearly incapable of harming any of them. They have, if I recall, either 3 or 6 S(5?) shots, which will all be snap shots. Nearly every flier can shrug this off like nothing, unless he gets very lucky rolls.

The last option is simply to bog it down. Stomp attacks and destroyer Chainswords are painful, yes. Can it hack its way through 30 Ork Boys? Nope! You're essentially burning points to keep him from using his units, but sometimes that is worth it.

He is a fantastic painter, he even modeeled the exorcist organ player on top.. however he is also one of the toughest players i have played against..

I have 2 wraithguard squads with wraithcannons and a spiritseer attached so ill be able to mark the knight and hit it with 10 tl wraithcannon shots.
