Hm actually I can't afford buying another one just to get into 7th, even with the good price tag it has. All I could need would be the cultists, the bikes and the champion. I would have to convert the termis and the chosen as having another 2 of the identical SB/PF guys would be a no-go. At the moment I'm leaning to just stay with 6th.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

Just like the old 6th edition one, still a must-buy for every chaos player out there.

Several amazing casts of team leaders, two facny bolter dude, twenty cultists, three easily converted bikes, a non-too hard conversion "tactical" team, and a harder-but-worthy terminator team to become chaos termies/oblits.
Among other goodies.

Just too easy to build a decent army out of it alone.

Well, I think it has been a good set. But I find its revival a bit strange, because almost everybody already has it.

...except the obvious? New players? Starter sets are geared to players who haven't yet entered the hobby.

New players would also buy a new set with new armies as would veterans.

A new set of minis meant specifically for a starter set, meaning a lower return than having you buy $50 boxes of Terminators or $35 boxes of Dire Avengers, is probably a much higher cost with a longer time for a good return on investment. Normally a ruleset and starter box lasts 4~5 years. Educated speculation: Since GW is in dire straights and released 7E so early to meet the end of the financial year to bolster numbers, they neither had the time nor resources to create such an intensive new product and decided to stick with "what works" and then repackage old frames (Ork v. Wolf set) into a new box to allure the latter. Those old frames have probably already made their return on investment and now any sales resulting from them are gravy.

I'm a bit surprised the OP was quite so shocked, seeing as he started this thread..
