It's not a Void Shield, it's an Ion Shield. And no, it cannot be used in CC.

Unless it is a cerastus (current forgeworld one) which does get to use it in close combat, but with a different value

But that's not an Ion Shield, Lancers have an Ion Gauntlet Shield, which is less useful versus range while being slightly useful in CC. Its a different Shield to the standard Knight's Ion Shield.

But it is still an "Imperial Knight" as per the OP's question, and as he was referring to Void shields (Usually a FW thing) the Cerastus came to mind quite quickly =)
