Shouldn't all threads that aren't suitable, with perhaps the exception of spam (kitchen cabinet) threads, just be locked and allowed to drift into the ether?

Surely the deletion is related to a particular post or a series of posts just before the lock/delete. Locking the thread and editing where necessary should be enough surely?

I'm just thinking of the overall post counts. Certainly this thought is based around the second Palestine/Israel thread which seemed to be moving along reasonably well (when I last looked at it), if not starting to head down the same direction of the last thread
