The Infinity Sub-Forum on Dakka Dakka is growing!

Within the next day or so, the subforum will be split into 3 or 4 sections.

Right now, it seems as if it will look like:

1) General Discussion and Rules Questions
2) Army Tactics and Lists
3) ?

or, if it looks as if it can 'support' it, it could look like:

1) General Discussion
2) Rules Questions
3) Army Tactics and Lists
4) ?

This change is happening real soon - so please chime in ASAP.

Why not start with two as you've suggested. If there is enough traffic to justify it expand the sub-forums after. I can see there being an upsurge in interest with the release of Icestorm.

Wow, really? I thought that discussion was more wish-listing. My question is, what might the third section be, that would warrant an entire sub-forum? There's not much background discussion, and I doubt that army lists or rules could sustain a forum by themselves. Batreps maybe?

I don't think Battle Reports would be active enough to warrant a separate section.

I'd love to have 3 sections, but I'm struggling to see how to do it other than maybe:

1) General Discussion
2) Rules Q's
3) Tactics and Lists

Thoughts?

I think that this is sufficient for now, although I can see giving rules Q's it's own section, especially with the new edition. Infinity isn't exactly the most active sub-forum at the moment though, but if there is a sufficient increase in traffic I don't think it's too much work to add more is it?

Wish I'd seen this earlier. I'd have suggested a terrain subforum - it's the most important part of the game!

It is, but beside Marc and Red we don't see a ton of terrain threads or questions. I think for now they can stay in general discussion

It's also easy to edit subforum names, if appropriate. Motyak and Alpharius have done most of the thread moving so far, and legoburner made the code change, of course.

Yes that goes into the General discussion and we discussed it in the Official forums closing thread You must have missed it.

But it boils down to you should post and P&M blogs up in the P&M blog forums to give Infinity further exposure to the Mass of dakkanaughts and also also continue to post just post it in here or the Community Showcase thread. ( You are already doing this anyways)

I would like to see a painting&scenery section !

Scenery certainly is an interesting idea! I like keeping the painting section in the general part of the site, though (although I'm sure seeing a completed piece / army or the like here every now and then would be cool).

My only suggestion at this point would be that Infinity General Discussion becomes Infinity News & General discussion (unless the thread that is in the N&R section is sufficient for that?)

Now, the only quandry is to try and get people away from posting discussion stuff down into the sub-forum instead..

Ooooh. Went looking for the Infinity thread, couldn't find it because they've got their own sub-forum!

Maybe there would be more posts in the general discussion section if people were reminded that the News thread is just that and probably not the place to discuss CBs new art direction or old models vs new models, tits vs no tits etc etc? It doesn't leave a great impression when half the posts in the news thread are people just slagging stuff off that they don't personally like (although the other half is usually people saying how awesome stuff is ! ).

Good to see Infinity 'graduate' to the major game systems here. Must be gaining some serious traction, which is fantastic.

..Also think there is a great opportunity here now that the official forums are closing down, and the transition to Datasphere doesn't look like it is all smooth sailing.

I wonder if it might be worthwhile contacting CB and seeing if they might mention Dakka in some kind of official capacity now that we have a dedicated sub-section? They usually seem pretty game for that kind of thing..

Over the next few days, we will continue to move all the existing threads to the right places.

So awesome to see the game growing.

Humble Suggestion: change the header on the sub-forum from just "infinity" to something like "Corvus Belli's Infinity" or "Infinity the Game". Type Infinity into a search engine and you will also get results for Disney and a few other things too. Don't mess with the mafiamouse.

Perhaps give some indication of where people can post Scenarios, Batreps, and of course the tables they played them on (which is not quite the same as terrain). One of the best threads on the old forum was the one where people posted tables here http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/16451-post-your-tables/

And of course, Yay! this sub-forum is really nice.

Exciting times once again!

Apologies for my prolonged absence and inactivity. My smartphone just isn't the correct tool to allow me to contribute, organise and communicate on Dakka as I'd like to. I will be ordering a laptop on the 15th Aug which will allow me to return and get back to my regular involvement. So before August is out I will be back to Dakka, the hobby and, importantly, to Infinity. I'm itching to see what's been happening, do some catch up and set up my workbench anew. Until then I'll check my private messages regularly and I encourage anyone to get in touch to bring my attention to any projects I can help on; with suggestions for current projects which I'll be returning to; or just to say hi if you like.

Coincidentally, my local scene has also just exploded!
