I'm looking through the CSM codex trying to figure out a good way to get Typhus/Plauge Zombies into a list to incorporate Cypher and his units of chosen as well.

Doesn't necessarily have to be "WAAC" type list, just something fun to play.

I have Ravenwing for my primary army, so I'm looking at something that plays different but I have no experience playing Chaos since 3rd edition.

I was really just looking at how to include Cypher/Chosen and liked how Typhus could take Plague Zombies. I'm just imagining waves of them tarpiting the different zones etc.

Any thoughts on how to put Cypher in a decent list?

Well cypher is good with any unit really, he gives stealth so infiltrating zombies into area terrain is cool, even more so with typhus.

Typhus
2-3 large units of zombies
Oblits if you want
Spawn
Cypher w/ chosen infiltrating
Bikers
Drake

Infiltrate up, turbo and run everything else, Have the Chosen and Cypher take the first turn of shooting, then assault. Then everything else should hit turn 2 or 3.

He's pretty much Huron with the same infiltrate idea.

I personally go with Plasma.

There's something about 5 plasma weapons rolling up a flank that makes me smile.

Now only a CSM player.

When taking Cypher with Abaddon, do all the chosen become troops? Or because of the data slate, do the chosen with Cypher still remain Elites?

Anyone have an idea about Abaddon and Cypher in the same list and troops?

the chosen with cypher were never in elites, they were part of the data slate.

so no, cyphers chosen do not become troops

They're listed as "Elites" in the Dataslate, which is why I was asking.

Thanks!

My chaos loving friend played cypher against me and stuck him with a huge unit of cultists behind an aegis defence line with the quad gun. That was not pleasant to deal with.

still they are taken as the dataslate, not as elites. So they do not become troops in the detachment, they remain as dataslate

I know...This sucks...I had built a Chosen Army and I am sad. They just cost too much and they died so easy. I would rather have a Plague Marine with a bolter.

Yes! Yes! That is the way forward! Check an earlier thread (only a couple of days old). Its either in tactics or disscussion forums. Been discussed quite a lot there :-).

Another question:

So if I run Black Legion rules, and chosen are troops choices - can I assign Cypher to them and give them infiltrate too or only the chosen with Cypher per the data slate can do this?

As much as I would like to get Cypher in the list, I think I will run them as Black Legion and have them infiltrate with Huron.

Maybe.... Really like the idea of HnR and Cypher because he's a bad ass.
