Perhaps ebay, converting, or the like...

Just a friendly reminder to head things off, but discussion of recasting is not permitted on Dakka, so let's not go down that road here.

Just save up and buy one dude. I'm in the middle of building and painting mine, and its well worth the money, insanity, and arguments with your partner. As for the re casting issue, it just isnt worth it. The mould lines and flash on the official versions are bad enough. A second rate recast would be horrific.

The only other option would be to scratch build one, I'm pretty sure there are plans available on the internet.

Got mine second hand off ebay for £260 but then spent about £60 more on basing, magnets, coper rods etc.

It was missing quite a few of the pistons but once its built and painted you can't really tell. Takes months to do though so given the price it's not crazy over the top costs. I'm assuming you already have a well modelled/converted and well painted army and you want a centre piece. Given that about 2-3 times as big as a collossal from warmachine at the second hand price it's not crazy.

For a project this advanced though it is so worth spending a little bit more on some conversion bits and a good base.

I assembled my reaver titan in like 6 hours...

I regretted not having rods in it months later...

Make sure you rod your titan limbs.

QFT, I took one look at my second hand titan and went straight to B&Q , hes got a rod through every leg joint, 2 through his feet and one right up his middle through his bum.

I tried to buy one from eBay (from China) and got totally ripped off. He sent me a Shato Succarius model instead and never replied to my emails.

Best bet is getting stuff at an event where FW is present. Often you can pre-purchase and pick it up there.

Or just sell some stuff you don't need and bite the bullet. :-)

Scratch build or ebay.

And they are awesome. I own two FW and hope to build a scratch or two.

I got my warhound on ebay for $350 and my reaver for $650. Both NIB

It's a matter of patience and messaging sellers. Youd be surprised at what people offer you

Here are my boys. Apologies for the sideways view but im using a phone and am on the road.

Just please be weary with eBay, especially from China. This guy got me for big bucks and a LOT of other people. He had a 99% positive feedback with many sales when I ordered my stuff, but once he made his money he screwed everyone else over and his feedback has been plummeting (I haven't even added mine yet).

I'm pretty certain he has many eBay aliases which is why he was ok with tanking this one.

A good rule is, if it looks to good to be true it probably is.

1. If a seller is selling or has sold multiple warhounds theres a good bet its dodgy (one person selling one because they can't complete it is one thing, but nobody buys 4 and then sells them second hand)

2. If the seller is selling lots of other models all unassembled and all at cut price (more than 25% off) it's probably dodgy.

Also look at when the seller registered, and whether he buys stuff too or just sells.

I feel bad saying ebay, after doing a little research on grey market FW stuff, ebay is the sketchiest place to go. You will pay near retail thinking it's FW only to find out it's a low quality recast that you could have gotten at half the price.

Ebay use to be such a cool place, kind of like the internet.

Dreamforge Leviathans are often (not alays) considered to be fine for counts-as warhound titans if they're modeled standing on a little junk to raise their height a little. They're less top heavy but that's a good thing imo. One will set you back $100-$150, I forget. They're plastic, have all the weapon options (and more) and are much more poseable than a warhound. Given the ridiculous cost of a FW kit, this is a great compromise imo.

Side by side with a warhound.

I'm not a fan of using other models to count as a warhound. I like the way it looks and such. So using another model to represent it is just, not as cool.

Also one of the reasons I started this thread is because the crazy high prices for these things. I could by a fricking gun for these prices. And the gun could help me protect myself.

So at this point, you are just complaining about prices? Yeah we all know how dodgy the costs are but there is very little you can do about it. I own one forgeworld piece and that is my shadowsword. I love it to death but it shall soon go the way of second hand selling as I am leaving guard behind. Just save up a bit every month and buy it that way. There really isn't much we can tell you at this point.
