Can extremely valuable war machines like baneblades, thunderhawks or warhounds be re-consecrated after being tainted by chaos or are they just destroyed ? Also what happens to the scrap from things like tainted war machines, daemon engines and chaos space marine and heretic body armor ? Is the metal usable or is it just destroyed for good ?

Probbly depends on value, If its rare and almost impossible to replace they may try to purify it, some tech is valubkle ernough to run the risk

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

Thunderhawk or Baneblade? Cleansed by destruction.
Titan? Purified in the blood of a billion AdMech acolytes.

I think any machine tainted by chaos will be destroyed. No exceptions. Even for titans and battleships.

Imperium isn't exactly forgiving when it comes to chaos... or anything, really.

The GK consider seeing Chaos as automatic taint and yet allow SMs to live with a mindwipe. A Titan is more valuable to the Imperium than a whole Chapter. To the AdMech its more valuable than a dozen chapters. And I'm pretty sure some AdMech members, including Techmarines and Iron Hands would gladly let the system burn than see a Reaver or Emperor Titan be destroyed without an attempted cleansing.

Length of time would certainly be a factor, as would be who recaptured it.

A valuable war machine captured by rebelling cultists who daub it in paint and use it for a few months, recaptured by the Ad Mech would likely be reconsecrated and returned to service.

A daemon infested and warped warmachine, in service to the fell powers for centuries and recaptured by the Black Templars, inquisition etc would likely be totally destroyed.

What about machine belonging to the traitor titan legions or the traitor imperial army ? Ive heard some of their war-engines have rare technology no longer easily produced in the current age of the imperium. Also would anything like a Plague-Reaper mutated baneblade, shadow-sword or a traitor knight-engine be worth recovering or art they just target practice ?

The more open minded Tech Adept may try to recover the technology and destroy the rest. I think it is safe to say once growths start popping up and leaking pus, It will be destroyed.

I'm sure there's a Gaunt's Ghosts tie-in short about a camp where all the captured tech is dumped and the tech-priests have a look to see if any is worth keeping. I'll have a look and see if I can find it...

If its like a fell blade or other rare heresy etch like a jet bike etc, and not too corupted I think they'd have a look at it to replicate some of olden tech, try and learn lost info

Even basic tech from that era could surpass what they had now, espechily daot stuff which eclipse current by miles
